the euchre card party
that has already been
cancelled twice for
stormy weather will not
be held until some time in
March. Please watch this

from Jamaica
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Dren-
nan returned on Sunday from
a two meek trip to Jamaica.
While in Jamaica J. C. and
Emily were surprised to find
Mr. and Mrs. Don Hackett
and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Alton
staying at the same hotel.
Mrs. Robert Kay's sister,
Elizabeth Maghee, of Huron
Haven, is spending some
time with the Kays and
attending high school from
there.
Mike Austin and Jamie
Bere took part in a Pee Wee
hockey tournament at Dur-
ham on Saturday and Sun-
day.
Dwight and Marybelle
Aldham and family of Ingle-
wood visited Mrs. Mary Bere
on the weekend. Other mem-
bers of the family joined in a
gathering at, Beres on Sun-
day.
Congratulations to .Mr.
and Mrs. Bruce Sillib (nee
Marsha. Hodges) on the birth
of a son on Wednesday,
February 7th. Proud grand-
parents are Mr. and Mrs.
George Sillib and Mr. and
Mrs. LLoyd Hodges.
Sympathy is extended to
Mrs. Joyce Caesar and fam-
ily,- the Jack Caesar family
and the Gordon Anderson
family on the death of their
brother-in-law, Clarence Ad-
ams, in a car accident near
Wingham on Saturday. Mrs.
Adams is the former Don-
anne Caesar.' She is present-
ly in hospital with diabetes.

Haven visited on Saturday
with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Park
and family.
CELEBRATE
82ND BIRTHDAY
About 25 friends and rela-
tives called on Mrs. George
Rivett on Friday evening to
help her celebrate her 82nd
birthday.. Among those pres-
ent were her son, Len, who
shares the same birthdate.
On Sunday, daughter, Bernie
and Marcel Vanruskinueld of
Clinton and daughter, Joan
and husband, Joe Boel of
Nile, visited.

Terry and Penny Hodges
spent 5 days in Las Vegas,
returning home February
5th. They. departed from
Toronto airport, flew to Los
Angeles, California where
they boarded another plane
to fly back to Las Vegas. The
couples found it cold there
and quite a bit of snow on the
ground. •
Mrs. Mary Anne Brindley
has been collecting this past
week for the "March of
Dimes". ,

FELLOWSHIP CHURCH
The children of the Child-
ren's Bible Club are planning
a tobogganing party on the
West Wawanosh hills this
Saturday. They will return to
the church for refreshments
and to hear the last chapter
of the Missionary Story they
are currently reading.

An assistant would be very
helpful for the Tyro group
which meets on Wednesday
evening. Perhaps some of
the mothers or fathers could
take turns helping Rev.
Westhaver lead this group.

The Dungannon branch of
the Women's Institute met
February 7 at the home of
Mrs. Alvin Kerr. Mrs.
George Errington, president,
welcomed all to this meeting,
which included part of the
cancelled January program.
She read a poem and Mrs.

4-H leaders training school,
Accessories, the Final
Touch.
In the business read by
Mrs. Harty Girvin, secret-
ary -treasurer, it was report-
ed two ladies have volunteer-

training course on needle-
point and later will instruct•.

The Institute card party
and dessert at Brookside
School is planned for March.
It is planned to have a quilt
ready for sale that day. The
Institute has been asked to
do some custom quilting.
Mrs. Graham McNee don-
ated an Institute crest which
she had, painted. Her hus-
band made the mahogany
dowels for this crest to be
hung.
Marian Zinn, ' Ashfield,
presented the topic which
was a slide presentation •
showing slides of the local
area taken during different
seasons. The slides included
scenes of bean harvesting,
oil drilling, fish ladder at
Port Albert, bridge before
and after construction, as
well as flowers, bush scenery
and snowbanks being clear-
ed.
Courtesies were expressed
by the president.
A delicious- lunch -was
served by Mrs. Kerr, Mrs.
Charles Travis and Mrs.
Girvin.

Tiger Dunlop Group no.
1 with leaders Nancy
Brindley and Mrs. Ann
Eeagan started their new
project "Accessories, the
Final Touch", on Monday
evening February 12 at
Colberne Township Hall,
Carlow. Eleven members
started the project.
The girls discussed the
.history of accessories and
the choice of same the
basic color and the guide
to color selection.
In the club activity they
decided what colors go
with one's features and
complexion and the
members talked about
the items in their war-
drobes that they would
call accessories.
The group held the
election of officers with
the following being
elected; president, Lynda
Feagan; vice-president,
Rhonda Bean; secretary,
revolving; press reporter
is the secretary.
The members
discussed what they have
to do in this projectand
their group includes
Senior and Junior 4-H
members which will
necessitate the seniors
doing extra which will
depend .on their . own
choosing.
The meeting closed
with " Lynda Feagan
repeating the creed.
The group will meet for
their second meeting next
Monday evening,
February 19 at 7:00 p.m.
at Colborne Twp. Hall.

were engaged in public.
speaking . to choose
students who would be in
the Legion Public
speaking contest.
The following received
first place in their
grades; Grade 4, Lori
Million; Grade 5, Laura
Wark; Grade 6, Sifia
Rasa; Grade 7, Margaret
Vanderlinde; Grade 8,
Karen Hyde.
As the four top are
chosen the students that
will be speaking from
Colborne Central at the
Legion Public Speaking
Contest this Wednesday,
February 14, will be Lori
Million, Laura. Wark,
Margaret Vanderlinde,
and Karen Hyde.

Many favourable
reports have been heard
of the excellent way the
Benmiller United Church
Girls Group and Youth
Group handle the paper
drive. People are very
pleased and their
newspapers are being put
to good use. The next
collection of paperswill
be Saturday, March 10
and in all probability the
weather will have
moderated by then. If you
are putting your papers
in the garbage why not
stop and give them to this
group who are making
use of them. Just phone

Verne Salisbury, half
brother, of Mrs. Gordon
Brindley passed away in
London recently and
burial,was Monday,
Februay 5 from
Needham Funeral Home
to Woodland Cemete-ry.
