Bill Crawford and Bill Norman received the offering. Mr. Oestreicher was appointed chairman and Jim Lobb was appointed secretary of the annual meeting. The minutes were received as read. The finances of the church are in good order. The chairman reported for the centennial committee. A social afternoon is planned for Februaty 11 with lunch. All who are interested in the outdoor recreation are to come to the church service dressed for this occasion. The committee regrets the fact that some invitations to centennial activities have been returned due to wrong addresses or people on the move. Anyone who knows people and their addresses, who should be contacted, please contact Mr. Oestreicher or Mrs. Doug Norman. Nominating committee report is as follows: stewards - three year term, Mrs. Wm. Norman, Frank Thompson., Mrs. Gerald Walter, Ben Whitely, Mrs. Ben .. Whitely and John Wyatt; session, 3 year term, Don Harris, Murray Lobb, Mrs. Wm. Porter, and Elmer° Potter. These people '.are to form the nominating committee for 1980. Usher captains,' Bill Crawford, and Murray Lobb; --Manse" committee representatives, Mrs. Harry Cudmore, Mrs. John Grigg and John Wyatt. United Church Observer representative, Mary Sear' Betties; - represen.tative to the Presbytery, Mrs. Jean Ginn. All nominations were accepted. The time to hold the church service was voted on. The result was • January and February at 1 p.m., the other ten months at 9:45 a.m. School News Public speaking is on Tuesday, February 27. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch in Clintoh will hold its annual public speaking contest between area schools. It will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the registration ,of the con- .. testants starting at 7:00 p.m. The contest is open to pupils from Grades 4-8. Holmesville School will have its own contest to pick the finalists a week or two before February 27. Contestants will be organized into two levels. Grades 4-6 and Grades 7- 8. Each pupil selects his own topic which must be no less-- than three • minutes and no more than five minutes. We would like to express our appreciation to the sponsor, the Clinton Legion. Nurses. from the Huron County Health Unit were at the Holmesville School on January 29 to give pupils, who received consent, their TB skin tests. The March of Dimes campaign is held in the latter part of January through the first part of February. The organization sends a claim box to the school so that the pupils can contribute to this wor- thwhile cause. We would urge the parents' cooperation in this regard. On Saturday, February 10 the senior boys° and girls° volleyball teams will travel to Central Huron Secondary School in Clinton for a volleyball tournament. If inclement -weather occurs, the' tournament will be held bn Saturday, February 17. More details on this tournament later.
