THURSDAY FF.RRUARY R 1979 Exeter hosts Ucw event BY MYRTLE JOHNSTONE, COMMUNICATIONS CO-ORDINATOR The 12th' Annual Meeting, of Huron -Perth Presbyterial United Church Women met in Exeter United Church on January 30. The theme "Human Rights" held the interest of 500 members who attended this meeting. 'A songfest at different intervals of the day was led by Mrs. Walter McDougall and Mrs. Jefferson. President, Mrs. Doris Zurbrigg of Listowel, declared the annual meeting open. She gave many valuable thofilghts for Christian work in the year 1979 and thanked those for work done in 1978 in each region in- cluding each local church of United Church Women. Mrs. David Anderson of Sarnia brought greetings from London Conference U.C.W. and reminded those present that April 23, 1979 is their Con- , ference in Lambton. The theme is "Pattern of Life" and on the Year of --the Child:._-.___._ — Harold Knisley of' Goderich, chairman of Huron -Perth Presbytery, brought greetings and left this thought, "The world is like a mirror, if you smile, it smiles back at you." Preview of Books was ably presented by Mrs. Leila Finkbeiner. Canec Publishing and Supply, House, Toronto with Mr. L. Tilley supplied the books and so did Tom Mantel of -the Resource w "Centre, Mitchell. The book room proved to be a very busy area • with members purchasing books for devotions, guidance, songs and general Christian reading material. Reports of -the' 73 local U.C.W.s , had previously been condensed into book form which proved a vast amount of spiritual, devotion, program and social work in the churches, community and for overseashad been accomplished • during the past year as each committee chair- man brought forward the reports. NEW OFFICERS Mrs. D. Anderson and H. Knksley installed the officers for 1979. Mrs. D. Anderson referred to Matt. 14:' 29 in her installation speech.
