MILLS
John Burton Mills of 215
'Palmerston Street,
Goderich died in
Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital on
Tuesday, January 16 at
the ageof78.
He was born in Auburn
on September 22, 1900 to
Fannie (Robinson) and
John H. Mills.
He moved to Goderich.
in 1924. He worked' at
Purity Flour Mills (later
Maple Leaf Milling) in
Goderich, retiring in 1963.
Oh November 25, 1925
he married . Gladys
Robertson in Auburn. She
survives him.
.The late Mr. Mills had a
hobby of raising fancy
foul. He was a poultry
judge and a member of
the Huron County
Poultry, Pigeon and Pet
Stock Association.
He was a member of
North Street United
Church.
Besides his wife, he is
survived by his daughter,
Mrs. William (Norine)
Cassidy of Jarvis; one
sister, Mrs._ Norman
(Mabel) Thompson of
Wingham; three
brothers, Charles of
Goderich, Russell of
Detroit, and Ted of
Auburn; four grand-
children and one great-
granddaughter.
A funeral service and
committal were held .at
Stiles Funeral Home on
Thursday, January 18 at 2
p..rn. The Reverend R.alph
King officiated.
Inter ent was in Ball's
Cemetej ', Auburn.

in Victoria Hospital,
London on Friday,
January 12 after heart
surgery at the age of 40.
He was born in Nor-
thern Ireland on June 24
and emigrated to Canada
in May of 1957.
He was predeceased by
his mother, Molly Mc-
Donald on November 5,
1975.
He is survived by his
wife, Bonnie (Sullivan)
McDonald; four children,
Kimberly, Robert, David,
and Molly, all at home;

Sarnia and two sisters,
Mrs: Basil (Joan) Hall of
God rich and i; Mrs.
Robert (Maureen)1 Lyttle
of Vancouver.
A funeral service was
held at Needham's
Funeral Home on
Monday, January 15 at
1:30 p.m. The Reverend
John .Marshall officiated.
Interment was in
Mount Pleasant
Cemetery, London.
Pallbearers were Alf
Costello, Robert Hall, Bill
Sampson, Jim Aziz, Ross
McKenzie and Larry
Beattie.
IRA B. OKE
Ira B. Oke of Goderich,
died at his home on
Saturday, January 20 at
the age of 73.
He was born in Ben -
miller on March 18, 1905
to Charles and Annie
(Blake) Oke
He worked as an
electrician at Sifto Salt in
Goderich for over 30
years.
He was an adherent of
Knox Presbyterian
Church in Goderich.
He is survived by his
wife, Helen (Johnston)
Oke•; one son, Bud of
Goderich; two brothers,
Graeme of Windsor and
Orville of Seafortha; and
two grandchildren.
A funeral service was
held at McCallum
Funeral Horne on
Monday, January 22 at
3:30 p.m. The Reverend
G.L. Royal officiated.
Interment was . in the
Maitland Cemetery,
Goderich.
Pallbearers were Ross
Fea'gan, Murray ' Oke,
Ray Barker,. George
Hadden, Clarence Miller
and Jack Brady.
TED MALINS
Ted Malins, a resident
of the Oliver area in
British Columbia and a
former resident of,,
Goderich, died in Pen-
ticton Hospital on Sun-
day, December 31 at the
age of 74.
He was born in nor-
thern India, where his
parents were stationed as
part of the Canadian
army.
He was a veteran of
both World Wars, serving
with the Royal Canadian
Ordinance Corps and was
a member of the Oliver
Legion Branch.
The late Mr. Malins
lived in Goderich for 13
years and moved from
this area to B.C. three
and a half years ago.
He is survived by his
wife, Daphne and one
son, John of Grand Forks.
A memorial service
was ` held Tuesd.,aya
January 2 at St. Edwards
Anglican Church with the
Reverend Des Holt of-
ficiating. Cremation
followed.
Arrangements were
handled by the Valley
View Funeral Horne in
I elo.wna. In lieu of
flowers, donations were
gratefully accepted for
-the Masonic Benevolent
Fund.

MACGREGOR
Mrs. Agnes Mae
MacGregor of Goderich
died in Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital on
Friday, January 19 at the
age of 91.
She was born on August
21, I887`'in Ashfield
Township to Robert and
Annie (Mac Ivor)
Drennan.
She was a resident of
Ashfield Township until
moving to Goderich in
1973.
She was a member of
Ashfield Presbyterian
Church anal.,,,.._ life --
member of the W.M.S. of
that church.
She was predeceased
by her husband, Colin
Kenneth MacGregor.
She is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. 'Clark
(Jean) Finlayson and
Mrs. George (Anna)
Leadbetter, both of
Goderich; one son;
Robert - of Ashfield
Township; one sister,
Mrs. Harold (Pearl)
Evans of Lacombe,
Alberta; two brothers,
Gordon Drennan of Ash-
field Township and
Stanley Drennan of
Kincardine; two gran-
dchildren and two great-
grandchildren. •

Kintail.

PITBLADO
Mrs. Stella Pitblado of
Goderich died in Islington
on Friday, January 19 at
the age of 86.
She was born in North
Dakota on November 8,
1892 to Mr. and Mrs..
Thomas Jewell.
She was predeceased
by her husband, David W.
Pitblado in July of 1975.
She is survived by five
children, Mrs. Thelma
Reid of. Toronto, Mrs.
Helen Brown of London,
Mrs. Georgina Kerr and
Mrs. Alex (Jean) Boa,
both of- Goderich, and
Edwin Monk of Sarnia;
six step -children, Mrs.
Ada Clark of Brampton,
Mrs. Melvin (Dorothy)
Nobes of St. Catherines,
Mrs. Clifford (Margaret)
Bennett of Huntsville,

In spite of the cold,
wintry weather, 27 ladies
were present for the
meeting of the afternoon
W.M.S. of Knox
Presbyterian Church
held on January 16.
After all joined in
singing the hymn,
"Standing at the Portal",
Mrs. Gertrude Kaitting,
president, welcomed
everyone, and led in
prayer.
The twenty-third psalm
was read responsively.
During the business
part of the meeting, the
secretary, Mrs, James
Horton, read the minutes
of the December meeting
and also the annual
meeting and an executive
meeting. •
It was
decided to
continue to havethe
talent table at the
meetings, with proceeds
going to the supply fund. •
The president gave a
resume of plans for the
future meetings of the
year.
An announcement was
made of the Presbyterial
meeting to be held in
Seaforth on January 17.
Knox Church,
Goderich, • is to host the
Synodical meeting on
April 10 and 11 and
requests were made for
volunteers , to help with -
meals, coffee breaks and
billeting.
During the singing of a
hymn, the offering was
received
by the
treasurer, Mrs, G.G.
MacEwan.
To introduce the study
book dealing with con-
temporary China, several
members of the executive
presented a skit. Those
taking part were Mrs.
G.G. MacEwan, Mrs.
G.C. White, Mrs. Osborne
Faikiner, Mrs. Ernest
Bogie, Mrs, Girvin Young
and Mrs. Milton
Raynard.
During the discussion
in the skit, the question
was asked, "Why keep
China before the church
people? We have no
missionaries in China
now, and it is a Com-
munistic country."
After the skit, the
members took part in a
discussipn.
Mrs. Ronald
McCallum
gave current events from
the Glad 7Tidings
magazine, dealing with
China, and Mrs. Horton
gave current events from
newspapers and men
tioned a recent t.v.
program on the People's
Republic of China.
The meeting closed
with a hymn and prayer
and the members spent a
social half hour together.

(Peggy) MacDonald of
Huronview, formerly of
Goderich, died in Clinton
Public Hospital on
Sunday, January 21 at the
age of 80. '
She was born on August
16, 1898 in Birchanger,
England to Charlotte
Ellen (Phillips) and
Henry George Peacock.

She moved to Ontario
when she was about 21
years of age and lived in
Toronto for a brief time
before moving to
Goderich.
. She was married to
Murdock (Bert)
MacDonald on April 8,
1939 at 230 Elgin Avenue,—
West in Goderich. He
predeceased her on
,January 2, 1957,
She lived in Goderich
until moving to Huron -
view in 1973.
She was a member of
Knox Presbyterian
Church in Goderich.
Besides her husband,
she was predeceased by a
daughter, Mary E. Reid,
in 1971.
She is survived by one
grandson, Gary Reid and
one step -grandson,
Donald Bert MacAdam ;
three sisters, Mrs. Violet
Franklin of Herts,
England, Mrs. *Frances
Parkin of Essex, England
and Mrs. Sybil Ingram of -
.Sussex, England; and one
brother, Percy Peacock
