Goderich-
Kincardine
battle to draw
The big news this week
is the results of the match
against the Kincardine
Chess Club held Thur-
sday Oct. 26. "
Laverne Riley, a past
Goderich Chess Club
momber_has started -up a,
club in Kincardine
following the same for -
Mat as that of the
Goderich Chess Club.
Things did not look
good for the Goderich
Club as three of our
stronger members; Bob
Dick, Kirk Lyndon and
Brian Miller were unable
to attend. In contrast,
Kincardine had a
• complete turnout of their
top members. We soon
found that the Kincardine
Club is not a club to
tackle shorthanded.
Goderich picked up the
first two wins but Kin-
cardine jumped ,back to
win the next three.
With one game left to
still held a 41/2 point to 3½
point lead! However,
Goderich managed to win
in the final game to
secure a tied match 41/2 to
41/2.
The winners for
Goderich were; Charlie
MacDonald, Louis
Stadelmann, Jim
Kingsley and young
Larry Gower. Steve
Harding picked up a
draw. The top three
boards were won by
Goderich while the no. 4
board picked up the
draw. If the entire
Goderich Club is able to
attend the return match
scheduled next month,
Kincardine will ha-ve
their hands full.
would . like. to
congratulate Laverne
Riley on organizing so

strong club.
In regular play last
week, Jim Kingsley
extended his winning
streak to 10 games. Also
remaining undefeated
with their fourth wins
were Louis Stadelmann,
Charlie MacDonald and
Bob Dick. -
Brian Miller has a big
night gaining •three
victories to move into
level 2 with a .700 win -loss
mark. Don Bogie is
playing very well this
year as he also picked up
three wins to raise his
win -loss percentage to
two games to pull into a
tie with Don for first
place in Level 3.
Larry Gower is a
pleasant surprisethis
year. Larry did his part
in Kincardine winning his
game and also in regular
play has a respectable
.571 win -loss percentage.
