On Thursday, October 26 they held their sixth meeting at the home of theirleader, Ms'. Brenda Thompson. Activity of the meeting was judging four sets of tea biscuits whereupon the girls divided into two groups and solved the case study. The girls then discussed the Achievement Day skit, after which the meeting adjourned. The girls met again on Monday evening, October 30 at the home of Mrs. Brenda Thompson for their Halloween party to which their mothers or a baby sister or brother were invited. The first part of the evening was spent in enjoying games which were in the charge of Barbara Clark, Mary Margaret Fuller and Lori Kerr with the Halloween theme prevailing. Afterwards all enjoyed a few contests and played "Duck for the Apple". The 4-H girls were dressed in Halloween costumes which added to the fun of the evening. A deliciousbuffet awaited all. It- included "make -your -own" submarines and cheese and fruit trays which was a fitting climax for such a splendid party and the end of this project. The group will have a meeting to prepare for Achievement Day next Tuesday, November 7 at 7 p.m. in the hotne of assistant leader, Mrs. Fielder. Achievement day Will be Thursday, November 9 at 8 p.m. at Brookside School and mothers of the girls or anyone interested are urged Ito attend and support the leaders and girls. support a resolution suggesting complete immunization. The resolution was made by the • Peel Regional Board of Health and sent to county council for support. The Peel health' board requested the province require, as a condition of entry to primary school, that all parents produce a satisfactory certificate of immunization except in cases where, 'upon medical` advice, im- munization is not ad- vised. The Peel group claimed that only 75 percent of children of school entry age have been satisfactorily immunized against communicable disease 'posing a threat to the general public by the remaining 25 percent. Oddleifson told council that no child or person should be able to pose a threat to society claiming they should be confined or immunized to protect the health of the public. He said he could see no reason why council would not sup port 'the resolution. Health committee chairman Paul Steckle told council that his committee did support the resolution but did not recommend council support it. "It says do not con- cur," said Oddleifson referring to the health committee report. • "lthe committee strongly recommends that people take im- munization shots but does not want to force it," said Steckle. ."Do we want to legislate people •to do everything? There are mays of containing the diseases and as long as that is possible we have no need to force im- munization." "Are we not going a step too far when we legislate people to act against their conscience or religious con- victions?" he asked. Oddleifson said he respected personal beliefs as much as possible but didn't feel an individual could threaten society for any reason. He told council that as a child he had been "inoculated against all kinds of things" and had never had a major disease. He said government had an obligation to protect society -as a whole.
