Wed recently
Yellow daisies and white gladioli adorned the
candelabra to make a pretty setting in Knox
Presbyterian Church in Goderich on Saturday, August
12 when Alice Patricia Dougherty and John Jeen
Koopmans were united in marriage.
The bride is the daughter of-Mis.'ITelen Doiigl erty
and the late Harold Dougherty of Goderich and the
groom the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rieuwart Koopmans, of
RR 2, Auburn.
The Reverend G.L. Royal officiated at the double
ring ceremony. Soloist Mrs. Avis Bisset sang the
Wedding Song and We've Only Just ' Begun, ac-
companied by organist, Mr. Lorne Dotterer.
The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Mr.
Arnold Young.She chose a floor -length gown of nylon
organza featuring an overlay of lace, empire waistline
and a scalloped neckline. She wore a three -tiered
waist length veil capped with a band of pearls and
outlined with lace. She carried a bouquet of yellow
sweetheart roses, white carnations, stephanotis and
baby's breath.
Matron of honour was Mrs. Karen Tyndall' of
Holmesville, friend of the bride. She wore a full length
mint green polyester empire -waist gown with a
matching jacket featuring a neckline trimmed in lace.
She carried a bouquet of yellow daisies, white car-
nations and baby's breath.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Martie Lobb of Holmesville,
sister of the groom; Mrs. Cathy Hamilton of Port
Albert, cousin of the bride; and Miss Barb Shelton of
Goderich, friend of the bride. They -were dressed
identically to the matron of honour and carried the
same flowers.
Flower girl was Miss Shari Lobb of Holmesville,'
niece ..of.'_the -groom. She wore a mint green floor length
gown trimmed with white lace. She carried a white
basket of yellow daisies, white carnations and baby's
breath.
The groomsman was Bill Empey of Auburn, friend
of the groom.
Ushers were Andrew Koopmans of Auburn, brother
of the groom; Brian Craig of Guelph, friend of the
groom; and Paul Dougherty of Goderich, brother of
the bride.
Kevin Beecroft of Wingham, nephew of the groom,
was the ringbearer.
All wore dark green tuxedos with yellow bouton-
nieres.
Following the wedding ceremony, a receiving line
was formed at the dinner -reception held at Saltford
Valley Hall. •
The bride's mother received guests in a two-piece
floor -length gown of peach polyester crepe with a lace
bodice and a long sleeved lace jacket.. She wore a
corsage of white roses.
The groom's mother wore a floor length sleeveless
printed -polyester--gown ... in. shades of red, white and
grey. She worea corsage of red roses. ,
Master of ceremonies was Keith Scott of London,
friend of the bridal couple.
For a wedding trip to Cove Haven in the Pocono
mountains of Pennsylvania and then on to Kentucky,
the bride changed to a two-piece pink pant suit.
Mr. and Mrs. Koopmans are residing at 118 Blake
Street in Goderich.
Prior to the wedding, the bride was feted at several
showers held by Mrs. Donna Young and Mrs. Marion
Beacom, aunts of the bride, both for relatives and
friends of the bride; by Mrs. Karen Tyndall for fellow
hospital employees; and by',Miss Kris Maillet, Miss
Judy Cruickshank and Miss Barb Shelton for friends
of the bride. Mrs. Darlene Empey of Auburn held a
dinner. Mrs. Tena Empey of Auburn held a com-
munity shower.
After rehearsal, the wedding party was entertained
by the groom's parents at their home in Auburn.

A water fountain surrounded by summer flowers on
the lawn of the Kernighan home at R.R. 4 Goderich
made a pretty setting for the wedding of Laurie
Dianne Kernighan and Steven Michael Little on
August 18 at 6:30 p.m.
The bride is the daughter of Audrey and Russel
Kernighan of R.R. 4 Goderich and the groom is the
son of Doris and Harry Little of Goderich.
The Reverend Ra1ph.King..of Goderich officiated at
the double ring ceremony. Miss Darlene Jewell
provided organ music for the ceremony and vocal
music was provided by Judy Langridge and Phil Main
Jr. Songs included, These Are the Best Times, Joy Is „
Like the Rain and Annie's Song and Evergreen during
the signing of the register. Phil Main Jr. accompanied
on his guitar. Heather Jewell read the poem, "Eter-
nally" by James J. Metcalfe.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She
wore a princess line white gown with shoestring straps
and seed pearl trim on the bodice. The tiny pleated
over -jacket featured lace over sheer inserts in the
back 'and -front yokes - and lower sleeves with seed
pearl trim. She wore a long veil attached • to a tiny
velvet and satin cap trimmed with seed, pearls. She,
carried an arm bouquet of summer fl,wers.
Matron of honor was Trudy Kernighan of Hamilton,
sister of the bride. She wore a blue satin full skirted
dress. •
Bridesmaids were Jan Ginn of R.R. 2 Goderich and
Pam Schneider of Kitchener, friends of the bride.
They were gowned similarly to the matron of honor. .
Junior bridesmaids were Roxanne Kernighan,
sister of the bride and Sally Ann Little, sister of the
groom. They wore white dresses with embroidered
blue flowers and blue sashes.
All of the bride's attendants carried arm bouquets of
summer flowers.
Groomsman was Scot Little of Goderich, brother of
the groom. Ushers were Mark Kernighan of R.R. 4
Goderich, brother of the bride and, Jeff Harper of
Woodstock, friend of the groom.
The groom wore a dark blue tuxedo with white
ruffled shirt. His attendants were similarly attired
with pale blue ruffled shirts.
Following the wedding, a reception was held at
Saltford Valley Hall. Emcee was Dan Burns, brother-
in-law of the bride.
The bride's mother greeted guests wearing a coral
dress with matching chiffon_ cape and white orchid
corsage.
The groom's mother wore an identically styled
dress to the bride's mother' in yellow wiiii a�wliite"
orchid corsage.
For a wedding trip to the Pocono Mountains in
Pennsylvania, the bride changed to a pink figured two-
piece dress featuring a blouson top with tiny straps
and lace and ruffle trim.
Mr. and Mrs. Steven Little are residing at 457 Albert
Street, Waterloo. The bride is attending her third
year at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo and the
groom is working at Art Rite Advertising, Kitchener.
Prior to the wedding, the bride was feted at several
showers. Mrs. Ken Sowerby held a shower at her home
for the relatives of the groom. Friends of the bride
held a shower at the Candlelight Restaurant. A
community shower was held at the Benmiller Church.
A bathroom shower was held at the home of Pam
Schneider in Kitchener. And relatives of the bride
attended a. shower at Mrs. Hugh Feagan's home, ,

The regular meeting of
Blue Water Chapter
Order off the Eastern Star
was held on Wednesday
evening, September 6
with Worthy Matr•n and
Worthy Patron, - Phyllis
and Allan McTaggart
presiding.
A donation to the
Arthritis Society was
made, reports of com-
mittees received and
election of officers for
1978-79 held.
Highlight of the
evening was the draw on
the umbrella patterned
quilt and the sheep skin
rug, the Worthy Matron
and Worthy Patrons
project. Winner of the
quilt was Mrs. Joan
Grace of RR 2, Goderich
and winner of the rug was
Mrs. Doreen Webb of RR
2, Dashwood.
Proceeds from the
project go toward career
research, a. religious
training a=ward, a high..
school award, Heart
Foundation and various
other organizations.
The chapter wishes to
•$hanik the convener, Mrs.
1D•onna Westbrook,
members who sold
tickets and the public who
supported the project.
