Hey kids! See the Discovery Train Monday
The Discovery Train,
the world's largest
mobile museum, will be
in Stratford from Labor
Day, September 4 until
Saturday, September 9 at
the East Gore Siding, its
only appearance in this
area. Opening
ceremonies will com-
mence at the site at 3
p.m. on Labor Day after
which the Train shall be
opened for viewing by the
public. There is no ad-
mission charged.
Comprised of 19 oars
and a locomotive, The
National Museums of
Canada ha i designed a
major travelling
exhibition depicting the
story of Canada
representing a cultural
achievement of un-
precedented size and
scale. The Train was
purchased by several
provincial governments
from the American
Freedom Train Foun-
dation last summer.
As well as agreeing to
purchase the 15 cars as
the basis for The
Discovery Train, the
provinces have provided
suggestions on design,
itinerary and community
involvement. Provincial
governments will play a
major role in hosting the
train and organizing
community involvement
in each of the 19 com-
munities to be visited in
1978.
Over the past several
months, work has been
proceeding with the
upgrading and repainting
of the original cars, and
with interior designs and
the fabrication of
imaginative exhibits. The
generous assistance of
Canadian National and
CP Rail, leading
Canadian Corporations
and charitable foun-
dations has helped his
phase of the
preparations.
The services already
provided by Canadian
National include

with artwork, audio-
visual material and
artifacts drawn from the
collections of museums in
every province.
Thestory unfolds in two
geographical cars where
the visitors walk through
Canada on "Seven
League Boots" from east
coast to the west coast.
The visitor will ex-
perience the variety of

moving sidewalk will
transport the visitor
