The minutes were read by the secretary Eleanor Bradnock. A representative from Sunburst Fashions in London was present with samples and T -Shirts were ordered to tell everybody of the 1979 birthday celebrations and Mrs. Allan Craig will have the T-shirts on Monday, June 19 for sale. Please come early as there is a limited quantity ordered now for the tractor -pulling day on July 1. More shirts will be available later this month so see Mrs. Craig- early raigearly please. Plans were continued for July 1 and committee convenors reported on their work. Harry Arthur and Jack Armstrong are to be in charge of tickets at the gate. Joyce Dougherty and the Auburn Junior Farmers - the food booth, Sandy Andrews - the land at the Auburn Ball Field where the tractor pull is to be held. Murray and Laura Popp are in charge of the sanctioned tractor pull, Bill Robertson - the weighing of the tractors, Donald Cartwright - the signs, Mrs. Allan Craig and Mrs. Fred Lawrence - selling T-shirts for Auburn's 125th birthday. ;Bill Robertson fire ex- tinguishers, Stephen Haggitt and Bill Sproul - Wagons and seating, Bill Crawford tickets on bicycle draw - to be drawn on July 1. The pork barbecue for July 19 was discussed and Mrs. Donald Haines reported on her com- mittees and tickets are available for two sittings. The next meeting will be held on July 5at8p.m. Bridal shower Knox United Sunday school room was at- tractively' decorated for the bridal shower for Helen Hakkers, bride. - elect of the month. As the guests arrived, they were greeted by Marie Webster, Violet Durnin, and Margaret Bakker. Seated., the guests had a chance to do a word contest scramble - Lover's Vocabulary. Barbara Bakker was in charge over a name gathering contest which was won by Mary Anne Rae. Following this, a mock wedding was presented by: preacher, Evelyn de Graf; bride, Marie Webster; "groom, Margaret Bakker; bridesmaid, Diane De 'Graf; best man, Barbara Bakker; father of the bride, Linda Durnin; motherof the bride, Violet Durnin and lamenting lady, Maxine Durnin. Following the mock wedding, guests were able to add up their scores in a humorous way and Shelley Worsell was the winner. Mrs. Alice Hakkers and Mrs. Betty Archambault joined in a cotton ball spooning contest and this was won by Betty. The bride was escorted to the platform by Evelyn de Graf and the bride's mother by Maxine Durnin. Gifts were carried in by Fawn King, Diana de Graf and Pat de Graf. An autographed apron made by Maxine Durnin and decorated by Marie Webster was presented to Helen as a keepsake. Helen opened her gifts assisted by her mother and thanked her many friends for the gifts. Mrs. Karen Web- ster was mistress of ceremonies. W.M.S. The June meeting of Auburn news Eleanor Bradnock, correspondent 526-7595 the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Society (WMS) was held last week with the president Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson in charge. The meeting was opened with prayer followed by the reading of the hymn. Mrs. San- derson welcomed everyone and the devotional period was in charge of Mrs. Frank Raithby. The roll call was answered by a Bible verse. Mrs. Frances Clark read two readings sent by Mrs. Ed Davies. The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as read by the secretary Mrs. Lillian Leatherland. 411 in high gear atTAiiburn A letter was read from the Blyth Centre for the Arts and a report of the Huron Presbyterial was given by Mrsr0 Eleanor Bradnock. The financial statement was given by the treasurer, Mrs. Frances Clark. Plans were made to hold the next meeting at the home of Mrs. Eleanor Brae - nock, Mrs. Frances Clark will be in. charge of- the devotional and:Mrs. Roy Daer will have the study. The mission study was read by Miss Minnie Wagner. The meeting was closed by the hymn and the benediction by Mrs. Sanderson': Lunch was served by Mrs. Sanderson, Mrs. Frances Clark and Mrs. Roy Daer. Father's Day supper in Durnin home Sunday guests at the home of Jean and Brian Durnin of London were Don and Isobel Harris, Donna and Dennis Harris and daughters Jane and Kelly, Betty and Ross Feagan. Last Saturday June 17, the Holmesville United Church Sunday School enjoyed a weiner roast and hike at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Lobb.
