The win was the fifth of the season for Fisher against two losses, for a league leading total of 10 points. They had been tied with McGee Pontiacs and Little Bowl but both teams lost their only game of the week. Pellow limited the Thunderbirds to a fourth inning double by John Warr and a sixth inning single to Ron Hodge, but neither hit figured in the scoring. The Thun- The sail past, an annual event in Goderich Harbor sponsored by the Goderich Power Squadron, was held on Sunday afternoon. The Power Squadron is a nationwide fraternity of boatmen with 150 squadron coast to coast and 16,000 members. Jays down .Clinton 10-3. The Goderich midgets defeated Clinton here Sunday afternoon, 10-3, in WOAD. baseball action. The victory gives the Blue Jays a record of three wins and a tie in their first four games. Mike Pitre was the starting and winning pitcher for Goderich, giving up the three runs on three hits and walking three in the three and two-thirds innings he worked. Dennis Donnelly carne on in relief and shut out the Clinton crew over the remainder of the nine inning game, striking out 12, walking four and pitching hitless ball over five and one-third in- nings. The Blue Jays collected a totalof'll hits off loser Mike Meier who went the distance for Clinton, walking 12 and striking out six. David Moore had a double and two singles to pace the Goderich attack. Robert McDonald and Doug Cruickshank had two hits each while Steve Arbour, Ted. Doherty, Andy Moore and Dennis Donnelly had one hit each. The Blue Jays were scheduled to play in HanoverMonday night, but that game was rained out. Pellow's performance was supported by the 12 - hit attack that produced eight runs. Fisher opened the scoring in the top half of the second inning as John Hoy blasted a two -run homer with Doug Fisher aboard. Fisher then, added two more runs in the fifth inning as John Hakkers delivered a key two -run double with atwo out. On Wednesday, June 7, we hosted the Lumber Building Material Association ul Ontario Golf Tournament in which over 100 golfers participated. Low gross for the day was Denis Lassaline and low net was John Landry. On Saturday, June 10, the Sailing Club opens race season BY DOUG BUNDY The Goderich Sailing Club opened the sailing season last Sunday with the first in the Spring Series of races. A total of ten keel boats in the 22 to 32 foot class took part, and most finished the nearly 10 mile course in under two hours. Only 25 seconds separated the first and second place finishers, with Lynn Myers in his Soling finishing first in 1:58:09, corrected time, George Robertson in second place in an Ontario 32 with a corrected elapsed time of 1:58:34. Ken Bauer finished in third, while Ken Dawson came a close fourth. In the dinghy class, two lasers fought it out in the face of 25 to 30 knot winds and both'com- pletely out -classed the heavier Minuet. Brian Hall finished first, with Dave Parsons second. Doug. Bundy in the Minuet finished well behind in third place. Following that exhausting sail, most of the boaters returned to decorate their boats for the annual sail -past sponsored by the Goderich Power Squadron. Although fewer boats than normal took part this year, it was a fine opening to the sailing season. Next weekend the G.S.C. is planning a cruise to . Bayfield Harbour, leaving either Friday or Saturday evening at Blue Anchor, and then race back to Goderich on Sunday. Excellent golfing weather prevailed for Men's Night on June 6. Low gross winner was Paul Baechler and low net was Dale Matthies. Other winners in- cluded: first flight, Stan Connelly and Glen Falkiner; second flight, Randy Miller, Stan Telford, Paul Corriveau, Harold MacPherson, Don Fuller and George Bolton; and third flight, Harry Williams, Walter Sheardown and Cliff Kennedy. On June 18, which is Father's Day, there will be a Men's Field Day. Tee off time is an 8:30 shotgun start. Brunch and prizes will follow golf. Ladies' Night on June 8 was Food . Night. Following golf, the ladies enjoyed a cold supper which was organized by_ Dorothy Bogie and her assistant Rocky Whelan. Winners for the evening included: first flight, low gross, Gerry Mountford and low net Shirley Baechler; second flight, low gross, Mary Lynne . Telford and low net Joyce Bolton; third flight, low gross Thora McCabe and low net Mariette Chisholm. and Pierson added one hit apiece. Hodge and Warr were the only Thunderbirds to reach Pellow for a hit. Martin took the loss allowing four runs on seven hits over 4 and two- thirds innings he pitched. Fisher returns to action tonight against French at 7.15 p.m. and Green and Parent is off until Monday when Little Bowl will ,. provide the op- position.
