Gardiner received his Master of Education degree in Educational Administration. Thursday, June 29 is the 151st birthday of Goderich and The Founders' Day and Canada Week Committee is holding a special commemorative service in Court House Park at 11:55 a.m. Judge F.G. Carter will be in charge of this §ervice which will last approximately half an hour. The above mentioned groups are invited to form in with the Legion Color Parties at-, the Legion Hall about, 11:30 a.m. and parade with them to the park. Let's have a real good turn out and make it another day to remember. + + + Secretary of State John ;Roberts announced recently, that _Citizenship Week 'will -lie observed at 'the same time as Canada Week, June 25 to July 1, in order to focus public attention on the im- portance of Canadian citizenship during the celebration of Canada's II lth birthday. + ++ The first Arther Fiedler -Boston Pops Orchestra concert in Canada in 20 years will be held this August 3 in Brantford, Ontario. A 25th' wedding an- niversary party party was held at Saltford Valley Hall on Friday evening to honor Mr. and Mrs. William Van- derlinde of RR 3, Goderich. Approximately 50 neighbors and relatives sat down to a hot beef supper at 6:30 p. m. Harry Dykstra acted as emcee for the evening. Mrs. Vanderlinde's parents from Holland were present for the occasion. Following the meal, more friends arrived and various skits were per- formed, games played and jokes and stories told. Many lovely gifts were graciously received by Mr. and Mrs. Van- derlinde. Their two children, Ronnie and Margaret, also took an active part in the evening's program. The its... Tid Bits... visit is hosted by the Founders' Day and Canada Week Committee of Goderich. Take note: the only public tour of this ship will be held on Monday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. Saguenay , has a displacement of 3,031 tons and a length of 366 feet. She travels in excess of 25 knots. She is the second ship in the' Canadian Navy to bear the name, HMCS Saguenay. HMCS Saguenay, an anti-submarine escort wholly designed and built in Canada, was the fourth ship of the St. Laurent glass to be com- missioned. Laid down at Halifax shipyards limited, Halifax, Nova Scotia, on April 4, 1951, she was launched on°July 20, 1953. Saguenay contains certain unique con- struction features. Rounded upper deck contours and heated anchor pocket doors help counter ice accumulation while the flared bow helps reduce spray on the upper deck. Saguenay's primary role is anti -•submarine warfare. The Sea King helicopter comprises the long range delivery system.
