LWML rally here
The Mitchell Zone Lutheran
Women's Missionary League
spring rally was a special
event. This was the first rally
held at Berea -by -the -Water
Lutheran Church, Goderich.
The theme was Lift Thine
Eyes - Behold My People.
Opening devotions began with
the singing of the hymn, My
Faith Looks Up To Thee. Mrs.
Ed Becker and Mrs. G.
MacDonald, Stratford, read
Psalms 125, 123, 121 followed
by singing Lift Up Your Eyes
and See.
Mrs. Marvin Barz,
Goderich welcomed the
members and guests and
'hoped everyone was as happy
to attend the Goderich first
rally as they were to host it.
Mrs. Gordon Rose, zone
president, extended greetings
to all and expressed joy in
having the first rally in
Goderich, especially as they
had a part in this new venture
as the church benches were
purchased with the Lutheran
Women's Missionary League
Ontario District grant.
It was brought out that the

for first time
rally theme Lift Thine Eyes
would inspire us to lift our
eyes unto the Lord for help
and strength. We need the gift
of the Holy Spirit in our lives
to make us his willing ser-
vants. We can apply the
words Behold my People by
becoming aware of the
physical and spiritual needs
of our zone and people around
us and in foreign countries.
We must respond by con-
tributing to world relief,
assist our missionaries with
prayers and letters of en-
couragement and support
medical missions.
The minutes of the 1977
spring rally were read and
the treasurer, Mrs. Allan
Siemon, Logan, read her
audited report.
Ontario District President,
Mrs. Irene Pakrul, sent
greetings and news of our
District Lutheran Women's
Missionary League con-
vention to be held September
15 and 16 at the Valhalla Inn,
Kitchener.
Mrs. Fred Kreis, Seebach's
Hill, introduced the guest
speaker Rev. Paul Pollex,
former member of St. John's
Lutheran Church, Seebach's
Hill and missionary to India.
He presented the "spirit of
India" with slides, com-
mentary and music of India.
He expressed the importance
and need to bring the saving
gospel to a nation with a birth t
growth rate of 40,000 a day. i
Acts 2.0: 20 - Yet I, never
,shrank ,from telling you the s
truth either publicly or in . a
your homes. This verse gives 1
a twenty-twenty vision for
Evangelism - to share Christ S
through mass media and on a p
person-to-person basis.
The LWML mites help to
provide chapels, nurses'
residences, hospitals. and
supplies.. There is a great
need for medical supplies and
vitamins. These people are
moved by the love and con-
cern shown by other
Christians who are helping to
meet their physical and
spiritual needs.
