DEcE:MBh:K 29, 1977 Y RTS PA Office team defeats plant The rivalry between t.he- Champion Plant and Champion Office teams in- tensified in the sixth week of Industrial League curling as the Office players upset a strong Plant unit in overtime 6to5. As the score indicates, the game was a close well -played match with both sides showing occasional flashes of expertise and temper as the tension rose. The office foursome of Jim and Sylvia Bolan, Bill Hayward and Gord Crabb played coolly as they took advantage of some • rare mistake's by ' the Champion Plant men to grab their second victory of the year. Plantplayers Jack. Kellough and Charlie Crawford had good individual nights but not good enough to stop a hungry Office Team. The second upset of the night came from the Kinsmen Club as they recorded their third -straight victory by dumping a bewildered Assessment Office 5 to 4. Holmesville carols Carol Service and reading of the lessons was held at Holmesville United Church last Sunday when the junior girls' choir was in at- tendance, Mrs. Wm. Lynda Blake was home from the University of Western Ontario for the holiday, with her family. Mrs. Dora Herd and Mrs. MacAdam visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ross MacAdam. Ilena Blake entertained her family and relatives to a Christmas dinner recently. Kin- cardine Winter Games tournament tomorr`9 w (Friday) at , 1:30 p.m. The Lions qualified for the championship final by defeating Hanover, 3 - 1, in semi-final action Monday, Brad Armstrong scored all three Goderich goals against Hanover, getting one in the first period and two in, the. second to stake the Lions to a. 3 - 0 lead after two periods. Mark Crawford assisted on two of the goals while Brent Fisher, David Day and David Gallow each had one assist, Paul Lehman got one back for Hanover in the third period, but, relentless checking by the Lions for- wards and defence and good goal -tending from Jeff Denomme and Terry Bean preserved the Lion's lead. Hanover had advanced to the semi-final with a 4 - 2 win over Owen Sound while the Lions received a first round bye when Walkerton did not show up. The Lions opponent in the championship game will be Kincardine. The host club qualified for the finals by defeating Durham 6 - 4 and Wingham 9 - 3. In other games, Wingham defeated Sarnia Township 6 4, and Durham beat Sarnia Township, 3 - 1. John Thompson scored the other Goderich goal. Receiving one - assist each for the Lions were Paul Brennere John Thom- pson, Mark Crawford, David Gallow and Daryl Madge. Bob Carr, Doug Bartlett and Todd Eby scored for Port Elgin, who led 3 - 2 after two periods. Two third period goals by Armstrong, the second with 46 seconds remaining, gave the Lions the come -back victory. Jeff Denomme held the Lions in the game with some fine goaltending.
