The Goderich Sailing Club
held its annual Awards
Banquet, last Saturday
evening at the Bedford Hotel.
Awards in the various sailing
catagories were presented
following dinner. In the
summer sailing program,
first place trophy winner in
the Dinghy class was won by
Dave Parsons, In the Keel
Boat class, Ken Dawson was
the overall trophy winner and
in the Fireball class, first
place was taken by, Harold
Jeffery.
A special regatta held this
year called the "Cock -of -the -
walk”' regatta, in which the
junior member of the crew
got to skipper the boat around
the worse, was won by
Laurie Bauer,. who sailed her
fathers boat to first place.
The Round -Up Regatta,
held Labour day weekend
again had Ken Dawson in his -
Abbott :: taking first place
honours, edging out Sam
Janes and Ron Lee. The
Dinghy class in this regatta
was garnered by Harold
Jeffery with second place
going to the team of Doug
Bundy, and Al Mullin.
Tire Junior Sailing Trophy
for- the Most improved junior
sailor was awarded to young
Dave Parsons and the most
prodigious award of the night,
the Reeves cup, was awarded
to the top competitive sailor
in the club, Ken Dawson.
Club Commodore George
Robertson introduced the
guest speaker, Mr, John
Sully, who entertained the
group. with .his stories and
helpful hints on cruising the
Great Lakes. Doug Bundy
acted as M.C. for the evening.
The next Sailing Club
meeting will be a Christmas
get-together at the home of
George Robertson on
Saturday, December .10,

Topping the North-South
division of play were Mary
Donnelly and Eleanor
'Erskine with 1181/2 points.
Fred Egener and Bill
Cochrane placed second with
98 points. Bill Bradley and
Aelian Weerasooriya were
third with 97 points and Jean
Papernick and Auleen Curry
were fourth with 85 points.
In the East-West division of
play Joanne Duckworth and
Lee Ryan placed first with 104
points. John Donatis and John
Wood were second with 97
points. Barb and John
McLaughlin were third with
921/2 points and fourth place
went to Louise Hetherington
and Pat Stringer with 89
points.

Sailors rally for four goals to tie Port Elgin
The Goderich Sailors
scored four goals in the third
period to gain a 'tie with the
Port Elgin Sunocos in OHA
Intermediate C action at the
Goderich Arena last Friday.
The Sailors rallied for four
goals in the span of four
minutes to earn a 8-8 tie with
Port Elgin.
Dirk Wolterbeck, Ken
Meriam and Kevin Meriam
sparked the Sailors with two
goals each. Rob Stanton and
Midgets blast Hanover
Goderich had no trouble
winning their second game
against Hanover, Saturday
night finishing with a lopsided
score of 18 • ::. They managed
to keep the penalties down,
taking five penalties to
Hanover's
Top scorer for Goderich
was Larry Madge, with four
goals. Rob Trebish and Roger
Lewis got a hattrick each,
Dan Maillet, Larry Daer and
Mike Larkin two apiece, and
both Terry, Kisch, and
Berlet, got one each. Assists
were given to Madge, Maillet,
Trebish, Daer, Hodges,
Berlet, Clement, Stoddart,
and Lewis. Steve Gallow went
the t.three periods in net
playingta very strong game.

Grant Shelton added one goal
apiece.
Port Elgin scored three
goals within a two minute
span late in the first period
for a 4-2 lead. They also
outscored Goderich 3-2 in the
second period for a com-
manding 7-4 lead heading into
the last period.
Goderich narrowed the gap
as Stanton scored after five
minutes of play and Shelton
brought the Sailors within
reach with a goal just 30
seconds later.
