was a great pair to
sell tickets to any benefit and
especially the Sorority dance.
They were toys, hard workers
and a lot of fun. Also in the
picture is Catherine Date,
wife of Bud. Date. Many will
remember Bud whose days
were cut short by a tragic
hotel fire. I don't know where
Catherine is now. Eleanor
Fuller now wife of Bruce
Erskine is in'the picture and
just as pretty as ever.
Eleanor is a busy girl with
her children and interesting
work at the Courthouse - and
Bruce of course. The next one
was Marilyn Butler - I
remember her great big
father who was a fine butcher
here in town for many, many
years. I hear Marilyn, with
her husband and family, are
in the Northwest Territories.
Hubby has charge of Indian
Affairs up there.
I am standing next to
Marilyn - was that/little one
ME? Oh well, I'm still here
and making a lot more noise,
than I did in those days.. In the
back row was lovely Pamela
Saddler. She and Lance have
the old Sturdy home near
Holmesville on Hwy 8. They
have created a beautiful show
place with their own lovely
little home and the fantastic
things they have, done to
beautify the two homes and
the grounds.- Beside Pam is
Leila Kendall a very pretty
girl. I . believe she and her
hubby are in Ottawa, Air
force retired. Then there is
Lenna Wilson, one of the
shyest girls I ever knew. No
one could blush like Lenna. I
don't know how Ron Pen-
nington every got her to say
"I do."

the Bedford Hotel business
for many many years is in the
picture. They raised a lovely
family there too. Auleen was
advisor or Miriam Anderson
(Mrs. Sam) was advisor to
this sorority group and Emily
Cory was Social Director.
Sorry, I can't get my facts
straight at the moment, but
these lovely ladies were very
important to Beta Theta
Chapter.
Kay Wise, then Kay
Holmes, was one of the
greatest and most efficient
workers I have ever known.
She could plan and carry just
any project thru - but she was
smart enough to have all the
girls participating so
everyone was happy and
many wonderful things were
accomplished the years Kay
was with Sorority. Great
things happened before and
since this but°she could make
everything fun and we all
loved her.
Eileen Glidden - her folks
had the village store in
Holmesville for years - was a
lovely talented girl. She loved
her piano and has done great
things with her teaching and
performances in Detroit.
Emily Cory stayed with the
Sorority for many years. You
could always discuss things
with Emily and her advice
was priceless for a Large
group of enthusiastic young
women
In this photograph Willa
Rivett was not present - they
still have their music and

Square. Marie Leitch - I
remember Marie as that
beautiful baton twirler with
the Goderich Town Band for
many years, she and Ella

were absent as was Verna

very shy girl and because of
illness did not stay with
Sorority very many years.
It is great to see the way
these girls have grown up to
be wonderful self sufficient
people although 'some are
scattered to far places, they
are still sisters to a very large
Beta Sigma Phi family,
The Goderich group has
grown to two chapters; and
soon a third chapter will be
added. Goderich may well be
proud of this , unassuming
group. They have, in their
own quiet way, done many
things for the children, for the
hospital and for many in
need. I'm sure the new group
too will make a real mark for
themselves and can proudly
stand beside the Rotarians,
the Kinspeople, the I.O.D.E.,
Women's Institutes and the
many other fine groups and
organizations of Goderich.
We11, now our thoughts will
be turning towards the Santa
Parade. Honestly, I really
miss the excitement of this
nice parade. I hope everyone
of the business people have
plans for a float, a clown, or a
single entry like a big girl doll
or a character under which a
small car is hiding. They're
fun to plan and not too hard to
do. Remember this is still
Jubilee 3 year - and still an
attraction to other towns.
We will never have another
parade like our July 1 parade
but we do have great ones for
the opening of the Christmas
season. So get going on
SOMETHING.
Check your Bulletin Board
page for great things coming
up. Mark them on your
calendar as you see them so
you won't forget them - and
later when you look back you
will realize it HAS been a
wonderful Jubilee 3 year.
If we're going to have a bad
winter - or a 'good' one as
1
some can think of it, many
scarves and mittens are
going tobe needed. Call
Audrey Tyreman at 4 7625
and ask how best you may
help.
And keep smiling -
Love,
Martha.
