study
"All have sinned and come
short of the Glory of God."
This is the message of the
Bible with regard to man and
abundant proof is before us in
the world today of man's
estrangement from God
through sin. So that no matter
who we are, the Bible comes
to us with this message that
we are sinners in the sight of
God.
The Bible, howeve does
not leave us there.
Secondly, the Bible h s, a
message with relation ftp
Jesus Christ. God's plait
whereby sinful man might be
hrnught back into fellowship
with God the Father is
through His. Son, the Lord
Jesus -Christ. So the Bible
unfolds the Plan of God's
Salvation.
The Bible tells us that "God
so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in
Him should not perish, but
have everlasting life." So 2000
years ago Jesus Christ came
into the world to bring us
back to God. 2

WILL GOOD WORKS
"And almost all things are by the
law purged with blood; and without
shedding of blood is no remission•"
(Hebrews 9:22).
The apostle's • argument in the
above passage is that since Israel's
ceremoni..al law was typical of
things to come, its constant shed-
ding of blood pointed to the neces-
sity of Christ's sacrificial death
for the remission of sins. Certainly
the Bible teaches that "Christ died
for our sins" (I Corinthians 15:3).
Those who seek instead to make
themselves acceptable to God by
good works should consider the
following: Our Lord never committed
one sin. He always did those things
which pleased the Father. His min-
istry was filled with acts of mercy
and kindness. He healed the sick,
cleansed ,the leper, made the blind
to see, the deaf to hear and the
lame to leap for joy. He preached
the gospel to the poor, deliverance
to the captives, and healed the
brokenhearted. Yet all these good

works could not avail to cancel one
sin or ease the conscience of one
guilty sinner.
Indeed, had He done all these
good works and then gone to heaven
without dying in our stead, He
would have left us i.n a deeper con-
demnation than before, for His ho,Ly,
spotless life could only emphasize
our sin and guilt by contrast,
And if all His good works could
not avail to erase even one sin from
the black record of human behavior,
how utterly preposterous for the
sinner to hope to erase or cancel
his sins by his own "good works"'
Thus, in contrast, the Bible presents
Christ's death as the price of our
redemption:
"We have redemption through His
blood, the forgiveness of sins, ac-
cording to the riches of His grace"
(Ephesians
"Being justified freely by (God's)
grace, through the redemption that
is in Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:24).
to what had happened in-
dicated they felt all hope was
gone. Their frustration filled
them with consternation,
because it was %perfectly
evident to them that they had
embraced a false hope.
But then came the news of
the Resurrection and the
appearing of Jesus and they
were brought together again.
A new hope and a new zeal
laid hold upon them as the
light of a Clew day began to
dawn.
That message of the death
and Resurrection of Christ
was the message of Salvation
to Sinful men. Listen to what
the Bible says, "He became
sin for us, He who knew no
sin, that we might become the
righteousness of God in
Him."
"He became the
propitiation for our sins, and
not for ours only -but for the
sins of the whole world."
Your salvation and mine
through the death and
resurrection of Jesus Christ is
made known to us through the
pages of the Bible - God's
Holy Word.
Thirdly, the Bible has a
message with relation to the
future.
He died that we might be
forgiven.
He died to make us good
That we might go at last to
heaven
Saved by His precious Blood.
Further the Bible tells us
that the day is coming when
Christ shall set up His
Kingdom, or as the hymn
says, • "Jesus shall reign
where ere the sun."
One day in the plan of God
there shall be no more sorrow
nor sighing, no more tears or
pain, no more sin or despair,
for the former things shall
have passed away. Christ
shall have come and those
who have believed and
received the message of the
Bible; namely, that Christ is
Saviour and Redeemer, shall
reign with Him forever and
ever.
What is your attitude
towards the Bible? Has it
brought to you the Salvation
through Jesus Christ?
"The Word of the Lord
endureth forever."
