The Clinton Housewives are
the champions of the Huron
Central Ladies Softball
league for this year, as they
put out the Clinton Sluggers in
an all -Clinton final series last
week.
The Housewives took home
the title by dumping the
Sluggers 11-3 and 12-3 to take
the best of three series .two
games straight.
To get to the' finals, the
Housewives, sponsored by.
Clere Vu Auto Wreckers,
knocked off the Goderich
Superstars, who were last
year's champs, in two games
straight.
Because they finished on
top of the league in regular
season's play with a 14 -win,
two -less record, the

BY JIM KINGSLEY
Unfortunately none of the
Goderich Minor Soccer teams
made— the finals in their
respective divisions.
However, most teams won
the first round of their play-
offs and all teams played
hard and gave it a real good
try.
The Pee Wees went down to
defeat 2-1 against Clinton..
Steve Graham played an
excellent game in goal while
the entire team put in a super
effort. It was also of some
consolation to note that
Clinton went on to win the Cup
for Pee Wee play-offs.
In the Mosquito division our
boys ran into a brick wall
against the powerful St.
Columban team. St.
Columban jumped to a 2-0
lead in the first half. Our'boys
gave it all they had in the
second half but broke even
scoring one of two goals to
lose 3-1. Mark Crawford
scored the lone Goderich
tally.
The Atom A team pulled an
exciting game out of the hat
against the Clinton B team.
At the end of regulation time
the score was tied 1-1 and 10
minutes of overtime did not
break the deadlock. It wasn't
until the last of two sets of
five penalty shots that
Goderich pulled ahead to win.
Goderich then went on to
meet the Clinton A team and
were outclassed by a 4-Q
score. Our boys played just as
hard in this game but Clinton
proved to be too strong'.
The Atom B team handed
Seaforth a 6-3 loss but
couldn't match the St.
Columban team who came up
with a 5-0 shut -out.
The Squirts also won their
first round setting Seaforth
back to a 6-1 score. But St.
Columban once again proved
to be. the villains shutting us
out 4-0. Scott Garrow played
his usual strong games
scoring 6 goals while Shawn
Larder and Robbie Middle
scored the remainders.
A very important meeting
for the public will be held on
Thursday, Sept. 22, at 7:45
p.m. at the Assessment hall.
