r by some of the students and staff at G.D.C.I, to
oderich's Jubilee 3 year. The capsule will be opened
ars, the year 2,002. Among other things, the capsule

a tape of some modern day music, a Dunlop Dollar, a
acket, a school spirit sweater, an atlas and a copy of
lass predictions for the year 2,002. The capsule is
made of wood and sealed with glue. It is in trophy display
case at G.D,C,I. where it is both visible and secure. Mr.
Shaw first had the idea of using a time capsule to involve
present day students with the reunion at G.D.C.I. Mr.
Scaman has been on the G.D,C.I. staff the longest. Mr.
Wark was the chairman of the Jubilee 3 highschool reunion
and Mr. MacDonald was in charge of publicity for the
reunion.(staff photo)

"Happiness is a
Successful conference" and
Canadian. Cancer Society
Service to Patients chairmen
agree that their 1977
gathering was a rewarding
experience. Over 300
volunteers from across the.___
province recently attended a
two-day, teaching -learning
session for Service to
Patients chairmen at the
Hotel Toronto. The con-
ference, with the theme
"Happiness is ", was
designed to assist volunteers
in their work with cancer
patients and to review the
services offered by the.
Society to cancer patients in
need.
Guest speakers from
various agbncies and health
organizations in the com-
munity included Domenic
Alfieri, Director of Municipal
Welfare Consulting Branch;
Gerald Byrne, Director of
Claims Services, Ontario
Blue Cross; Dr. Ruth Alison,
Internist Oncologist, Princess
Margaret Hospital; Dr.
Arthur Turner, Medical
Advisor, Ontario Division,
CCS; and Dr. John Swift,
Hospital Chaplain of the
Queensway -Carleton Hospital
in Ottawa.
Attending the conference
from this area was Edna
Stephens, Service to Patients
chairman for the Goderich
Bran_ ch.,;,Mrs..St.e.phens.. said,
"There is a continuous
stream of information that is
important to our work with
cancer patients. Listening to
speakerst participating in
workshops and question
periods and viewing displays
enables chairmen to keep in
touch with what's happening
and with one another. The
conference instilled in me a
fresh enthusiasm and
renewed sense of the
a
direc-
tion and goals of the Ontario
Division's Service to Patients
committee - and that would
seem to be the most im-
portant outcome of the
conference".
