The capsule is made of wood and sealed with glue. It is in trophy display case at G.D,C,I. where it is both visible and secure. Mr. Shaw first had the idea of using a time capsule to involve present day students with the reunion at G.D.C.I. Mr. Scaman has been on the G.D,C.I. staff the longest. Over 300 volunteers from across the.___ province recently attended a two-day, teaching -learning session for Service to Patients chairmen at the Hotel Toronto. The con- ference, with the theme "Happiness is ", was designed to assist volunteers in their work with cancer patients and to review the services offered by the. Society to cancer patients in need. Guest speakers from various agbncies and health organizations in the com- munity included Domenic Alfieri, Director of Municipal Welfare Consulting Branch; Gerald Byrne, Director of Claims Services, Ontario Blue Cross; Dr. Ruth Alison, Internist Oncologist, Princess Margaret Hospital; Dr. Arthur Turner, Medical Advisor, Ontario Division, CCS; and Dr. John Swift, Hospital Chaplain of the Queensway -Carleton Hospital in Ottawa. Attending the conference from this area was Edna Stephens, Service to Patients chairman for the Goderich Bran_ ch.,;,Mrs..St.e.phens.. said, "There is a continuous stream of information that is important to our work with cancer patients.
