The Sunset again had a
good day for another in-
vitational. The Junior

Willows) shot a 68 to come out
as low gross of tate day. Good

For the Bantam division,
Jeff Crawford from Belmont
was low gross and Ben Meli(ck
was low net. Derek Devok of
Bayfield was low gross for
Juvenile and Rob MacDonald
of the SL;nset was low net. The
Junior winners were Jan
Bissonett from Sarnia for low
gross and Doug O'Keefe from
Owen Sound for low net.
There is still more tour-
nament action to come. On
Sunday, September 11, Sunset
is holding its first Annual
Couples' Tournament. Phone
the Pro Shop and make your
entry - you can get together
with your -fellow members
and meet new people, so don't
miss it.

Durst wins second junior

The annual Couples,
Tournament, held August 27,
and organized by the Kanes
and Paquettes, was once
again a great success. The
spirits of 48 couples were not
dampened by the early
downpour and the weather
improved as the day
progressed. Winners of the
low gross prize were Mr, and
Mrs. Black from Rockway,
Kitchener. Low net for the
day went to Tony and Della
Bedard of Maitland.
At the junior tournament
held recently, Steve Durst
captured the Club Cham-
pionship for the second year
in a row. The Intermediate
title went to Del. Mit-
chelmore; Joe Morrissey won
the 'Bantam. The junior girls
also played, the winner being
Dorita Jackson, who defeated
Jane Ferguson on the first
hole of a sudden death play-
off. Congratulations, junior's!
Last week's Ladies Night
was attended by forty-two
women, playing a two -hall.
Maxine Martin and Pat
Wilkinson turned in the hest
score, with Verne Frith and
Chris Hoffineyer second ;
Doris Paquette and Bud
Elliott third; Susan White and
Sally McEwan fourth.: Closest
to the pin on the first hole was
Janet Gemmill, longest drive
went to Maxine Martin. .
Winners of Men's Night
were: low net of 25, Jeff
Harrison; Bud Worthy 31;
tied at 32 were Fred Jewell, '
Bill Stiles, Walter Palmer,
Tony' Bedard, Sr., Bob.
McDougall, Don Elliott and
Karl Campbell.
With Championship Day
being planned, it is sadly
realized that summer is all
but over. This year a new
format is heir* tried. The
men's and ladies' sections
will hold separate Cham-
pionship Days - the men on
September 17 .and the ladies
on September 10, in con-
junction with a district junior
girls tournament.
Sunday, September 11 a
Senior -Junior Day will he
held. A few more seniors are
needed for this 9 -hole event
beginning at 11 o'clock.so see
the Pro Shop and sign up.!
For the second time this
year, a hole -in -one has been
recorded on the 7th. Mark
Wilson from Guelph aced the
227 yard hole with his 3 -wood,
Ed Harrison, Jack Hinton,
Paul Corriveau and Randy
Miller. For third flight, the
winners were Don Scott,
Gerry Lassaline, Greg
Beacom, . Cord Govier and
Bob Cornish.
For Ladies' Night, first
flight, low gross winner was
F..v Evers, low net was Adele'
Drennan; second flight, low
gross winners were Betty
Helesic and Marl' Lynne
Telford; •and third flight, low
gross was Brenda Love and
low net was Rocky Whalen.
Remember that Saturday,
September 10 is the date set
for the final club cham-
pionships. Check the posters
and make sure your matches
are up to date.
The Annual O.P.P. Tour-
nament will he held on
Wednesday, September 14.
