Jesson has a staff of about 12 peopleout of a total of 60 employees -She and her staff are involved in policy changes. They also handle a large" volume of correspon- dence from all over the world. Jesson says her writing ex- __petience from university_ has been an asset in helping her with press releases, annual reports, fact sheets and a small newspaper called Lottery News which is put out on a fairly regular basis. ° Jesson has to"make a lot of important decisions. Goderich people can thank her for choosing their town as a site for last week's Wintario show. Considering there are easily 500 communities on file and only 26 draws per year, it is a difficult task trying to decide where each draw will be televised from. Jesson and an assistant look at a map and try to keep geographical distribution for the draws as equal as possible. This is weighed off against the kinds of activities going on in the various communities. The area is then surveyed for its technical facilities regarding television. Moving into new co.m-' munities every two weeks involves coping with a lot of different situations. One situation over which Jesson has little control is the weather. At 10 a.m. last Thursday she had to make a decision whether to hold the draw inside at-G.D.C.I. or prefers her own job behind outside in Harbor Park. She the scenes.,Although she is in opted for outside and despite the background, she can some drizzle, the show went on as scheduled. The talent part of the show is Always organized by local people which she also feels is -important. She' says the corporation has- received tremendous co-operation and support from local organizations: She looks on it as a two way street because the lottery shows, which are popular on t.v., help the communities in which they are televised by drawing tourists. Jesson says there have been winners in the com- munities where the show is being televised and sometimes she can hear people screaming in the audience. She thinks people have fun playing the game even if they are just small winners. Being responsible for the show has given Jesson a look at the television industry which she feels is valuable experience. She is often in- volved in Script changes. The show is rehearsed for about. an • hour before being televised with announcers Fred Davis and Faye Dance_ While Davis and Dance have interesting and perhaps more glamorous jobs out front, Jesson says she still certainly feel a sense of -ac- complishmen( after . each for a job well done. 41' -IA, Alit; • 1 red 1) vis and Faye Dance, hosts of the Global Television Wintario Draw show; signed autographs for several fans after the telecast of the 57th Wintario Draw from Harbor Park in Goderich.
