The Goderich Signal-Star, 1977-05-19, Page 21Arthritis
Special
planned
The fifth Annual C.A.R.S.
Arthritis Special will be held
on Friday evening, May 27
from 7 to 11.
Arthritis Society Volun-
teers, along with the Manager
and Staff of CKNX-TV have
Oen busy planning this
program for sometime now
and talented performers will
come from all over the CKNX
Television viewing area to
take part in what would
appear to be the most
spectacular Special yet.
The goal- this year has been
set for $18,000 and all monies
pledged will - be directed
towards the Research Project
conducted by Dr. Manfred
Harth University of Western
Ontario, London. Dr. Harth is
studying the effects of Gold
Salts ip the' treatment of
rheumatoid arthritis
patients.
Dr. Duncan Gordon, Director
of Rheumatic Diseases Unit,
Toronto Western Hospital,
will again be taking part in
the Special, discussing the
problems faced by the ar-
thritic, as well as the treat-
ment program. Dr, Gordon
will also be ,available to an-
swer questions from the
viewing audience as time
permits.
Many people still believe
arthritisis an old people's
disease and do not realize
that children, even infants,
also get arthritis and since
juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
is a degenerative joint
disease, damage to. the joint
can be much more severe in a
child, since their joints are
not fully developed.
Appearing on this years
Special will be Mark Stuart
from Owen Sound, who has
been afflicted with juvenile
rheumatoid arthritis since he,
was very young.
Don't miss this educational
and entertaining program, as
talent from across Western
Ontario perform as never
before, in aid of arthritis
sufferers everywhere. Your
pledge is needed to help reach
the goal of Arthritis Control in
Canada.

PRUDER: In loving memory of a
wonderful mother and grand-
mother who passed away one
year ago, May 18, 1976.
I watched you suffer,
I watched you die,
All I could do was just stand by,
God took your hand, and you fell
asleep, ,
This is the memory I will always
keep,
Now all I can do dear mother, is
go and tend your grave.
And leave behind tokens of love,
To the best Mother God ever
made.

grandsons Peter and Paul. -20x
PROUSE: In loving memory of a
beloved wife and mother, Evelyn,
who passed away May 18, 1975.
The world changes year to year,
And friends from day to day.
But never will the one we loved,
From memory pass away.
The years may wipe out many
things 41
But this they'll wipe out never.
The memory of those happy days
Which we have spent together.

You used to do and say.
