The Goderich Signal-Star, 1977-05-19, Page 21Arthritis Special planned The fifth Annual C.A.R.S. Arthritis Special will be held on Friday evening, May 27 from 7 to 11. Arthritis Society Volun- teers, along with the Manager and Staff of CKNX-TV have Oen busy planning this program for sometime now and talented performers will come from all over the CKNX Television viewing area to take part in what would appear to be the most spectacular Special yet. The goal- this year has been set for $18,000 and all monies pledged will - be directed towards the Research Project conducted by Dr. Manfred Harth University of Western Ontario, London. Dr. Harth is studying the effects of Gold Salts ip the' treatment of rheumatoid arthritis patients. Dr. Duncan Gordon, Director of Rheumatic Diseases Unit, Toronto Western Hospital, will again be taking part in the Special, discussing the problems faced by the ar- thritic, as well as the treat- ment program. Dr, Gordon will also be ,available to an- swer questions from the viewing audience as time permits. Many people still believe arthritisis an old people's disease and do not realize that children, even infants, also get arthritis and since juvenile rheumatoid arthritis is a degenerative joint disease, damage to. the joint can be much more severe in a child, since their joints are not fully developed. Appearing on this years Special will be Mark Stuart from Owen Sound, who has been afflicted with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis since he, was very young. Don't miss this educational and entertaining program, as talent from across Western Ontario perform as never before, in aid of arthritis sufferers everywhere. Your pledge is needed to help reach the goal of Arthritis Control in Canada. 11 GODERICH SIGNAL -STAR, THURSIY,4Y, MAY 19,1977 ---PAGE 21 es ay tanav rden for la tilling,' LPA SND VTIN`I :leas r6:N ..7961 LT IA sono t mr iii 524.10' ces available Appliance_ PAIR Makes y service me Repairs roadfooty 2-7032 MERON IGERATION NDITIONING ' rvice, Installation ommercial Residential Industrial sed tradesman K CAMERON 7 Lucknow 529-7848 NED '; )g 'shed hos hone NT Intoe -14 ad sysin nt Li 0001! stimatit Jo Nebo )DER( .110 we do AlV PRD '14 RT'S ping-Nusery ?den Centre nett, God.rkfe t.
