Kill Seaforth rally
Superstars win opener on late charge
Gardiner's. Superstars
killed a Seaforth rally in the
final inning of their ladies'
recreational softball game
recently and held on to grab a
15-13 decision from Seaforth.
Leading 10-8 after a strong
sixth by Sea.forth, the
Superstars rallied for five,
before Seaforth could retire
the side. Seaforth., grabbed
five of their own before the
Superstars ended the game
'with the tying run at the
plate.
The game was close until a
sixth inning burst by
Goderich broke a five run
deadlock and pushed the
Superstars into a two run
lead, Seaforth replied with
three runs of their own -to cut
back the lead, but Goderich
came right back a second
time to grab a 15-8 edge after
six and a half.
Lori Keller tied the game
up in the first inning when she
singled and moved around on
singles by Judy Draper and
Bonnie Durnin. Draper
moved the Superstars into a
one run lead coming in on
Colleen Straughan's single.
Seaforth tied the game, in
the third but the Superstars
broke the tie in their half of
the inning. Nancy Ferguson
lead off with a single and
sacrifice by Draper and -
Durnin set up an RBI for •
Straughan.
Draper tied the game a
third time in the fifth inning
when Ferguson led off with a
walk and moved around on
Draper's single. Back to back
hits by Durnin and Straughan
brought the two runners in fo
tie the game at five.
Seaforth took a three run
lead in their half of the sixth
but the Superstars used the
heart of their order to change
that to a 10-8 lead. Keller lead
off the charge with a single
and moved down on a hit by,
Dawn Westbrook. Ferguson
cracked a single to load the
bags and Draper and Durnin
grabbed some RBIs with
back to hack singles.
Straughan singled another
run in before Seaforth tagged
the side.
Helen MacDonald ,led off
the final, Gardiner's charge
with a walk and moved to
third on singles by Keller and
Westbrook. Ferguson waited
out a walk for the first of five
runs and Draper sacrificed a
run in.
Durnin singled the
winner in and Straughan
pushed an insurance marker
over with a single. Marilyn
McCuspey sacrificed to score
Durnin with the final run of
the ball game.

Fisher 7-4
Little Bowl used their hits
wisely to grab a 7-4 Goderich
Industrial Softball win off
Fisher Custom Builders
Monday night in the first of
two games. The Bowlers
rolled up a five run lead in the
first two innings and held on
to grab the Builders despite a
late Fisher rally.
Glen Faikiner waited out a
two out walk in the first in-
ning and moved to second on
a single by Bill Black. Both
moved a bag on a pass ball
and Dave Patterson ham-
mered a double to bring them
in.
Rob Snell and Ken Doughty
led off the second with
singles and Charlie Crawford
drove Snell in with a single.
Doughty took off for home
when Builder catcher Jim
Bell tried to grab Crawford
stealing second and everyone
was safe and the score was
was. 4-0. Faikiner kept things
hopping with a fourth single
and Black caught a one
bagger to bring in Crawford
with the winner. Crawford
added another in the sixth
coming in on a Falkiner home
run after Crawford had
tripled.
Jint Durst scored first for
the Builders turning a second
inning single into a run.
Gerry Durst singled to move
,Tim around and Larry
Donnelly was hit by a pitch to
load the bags. Jim Bell scored
Jim Durst on a fielder's
choice that grabbed Donnelly
at second and the Bowlers
managed to come out of the
inning with a 5-1 lead.
Larry Donnelly drew a
walk to start off the Fisher
seventh and stole second
before Jim Bell hammered a
. double. Donnelly was tagged
at the plate trying to score on
the hit. Bell moved to third on
a single by Keith Allen and
scored on a sacrifice by
Dennis LeBrun. John Hoy
moved Allen in with a single
and scored himself on a
double by Doug Fisher. Fred
Pellow° popped up to right
field to end the drive and the
game.
Walter Bell got the win on
an eight hitter while Fred
Pellow was the loser giving
up 10 hits.
