Mr. Connolly expressed his

all bargaining between
construction trade unions and
management on a provincial
level. The committee,
composed of rank and file
union members of several
trades, opposes what it calls a
loss of autonomy for union
locals,
Mr. Gaunt said that during
the meeting last week the'
committee also said that
leaders of international
unions based in the United
States favor the provincial
bill.
The committee feels that
province wide bargaining will
give the U.S. based in-
ternational unions more
power within the province,
making the formation of
independent Canadian unions
more difficult.
He said that although he
can sympathize with the
workers holding this point of
view, the matter is an in-
ternal one for the unions to
decide.
The ad hoc committee has
been asked to present a brief
to the legislature's standing
committee which will study
the proposed bill, Mr. Gaunt
said.
