Mr. Austin was born on Faster Sunday morning, April 1', • 1892, the eldest child of a family of eight, born to Peter and Annie (McCann) Austin. He lived in the K ingshridge area all his life, having taken an active part in the community. He married Margaret (Etta ) McNamara on June 14, 1922 and has a family of four sons, ,John, Vincent, Wilfred, and Eldon and a daughter Mrs. Joe (Teresa) Courtney all of Kingsbridge. He has 25 grandchildren and four great•grandchildren. Mrs. Austin passed away on October 6, 1948. A Mass of thanksgiving was celebrated by the Reverend Father Ed Dentinger, C.R. in St. Joseph's parish church on Saturday evening April 16 at ::10 p:m. A smorgasbord dinner was enjoyed by approximately 65 members of his family and friends on Sunday at 12:30 noon in the Kingsbridge Parish Hall. Musical en- tertainment was provided by Mrs, 'Jack Kinney. Master of ceremonies was John Austin. A poem written by Aubrey Higgins • and read at the dinner to Mr. Austin is as follows: Some eighty five years ago In this community A baby was born into this world Yes, quite -expectedly. SCHOOL NEWS The St. Joseph's School Association met on Thursday, April 14 at the school in Kingsbridge. The main topic of discussion was a restructuring of the association and the establish- ment of the goals and oh• jectives of the body. 'Fhc aim is to widen the scope of involvement within the school. How this shall he • established will be explained to the school supporters at a general meeting of the association at 8:15 on Wed- nesday, May 25 at the school. Education Week was discussed and the executive agreed that all the actitivies were activities that were - usually held in the school and would provide the public with a broad cross-section of school happenings. Kindergarten registration is to he held at the school on Thursday. April' 21 at 1:30 p.m. Mrs, Ann Riegling, kindergarten teacher, Ms. Joanne .Jasper, school nurse, and David Zyluk, School Principal will be in at• tendancc. Casey Hendriks has organized a school monopoly tournament to begin the first week in May.
