(continued from page 1) planned to sound its dock area later this week to check the depth claiming the area is normally 24 feet deep but if water levels are • down the company wants to he sure it hays the depth required -to load vessels to rapacity. Goderich harbormaster Allan MacDonald says the present situation is probably part of a cycle and points out that levels are still slightly above average. Recent years have seen -exceptionally high 'water and over the summer Of 1977 levels are destined to drop still further. Mr. MacDonald notes that about 10 years ago the levels were three feet 'below even this season's mark. Flooded docks at Snug Harbor are likely to he a thing of the, past but some boaters may find shallow water in slip docks along the ,inner part of the facility' as those docks were installed when water was high. The harbormaster says it is unlikely the lower water will have any serious economic effect hut admits that 1,000 fewer tons on every vessel loading at Goderich harbor could acid up quickly over the length of the shipping season, NEW!
