Combine was a common sight in four townships ' ..
The Gibsons moved to Lucknow in 1046" where it was
possible for their older children to .complete their:,high
school education:. The family took over the •Massey -
Harris (later Massey -Ferguson) dealership along with
;,the Beatty Br . barn equipment franchise and: the
dealership for, Purina Feeds. '
Mr. Gibson went back to custom combining, this time
with,a 21 -foot self-propelled machine which harvested an
average of 1,000 acres a year until 1963..
When school busses were available to pick up the
Gibson children for high sehool, the`family revved back
to'.a farm in the Amberley district. They rebuilt 'five
barns and their home as well as putting in 75 thousand
tile and bulldozing 50 acres of Hawthorns and many
miles of fence bottoms. Careful farming methods helped
them to bring the nitrogen level in the clay loam from nil

through the,prairies to British .Columbia, the Maritime
Provinces, the Yukon and Alaska,:
They became the parents of nine children, four sons
and five daughters: Roy (deceased); Mrs. John
(Catherine) Crocker, St. Thorns; Mrs. Donald
(Dorothy)' Hamilton, Amberley; Mrs. Alvin (Gladys)
Hamilton, Lucknow;. Mrs. Chris Carolyn) Brown.
Brantford; -Ernie and George of Ashfield Township; Mrs.
Paul (Esther) 'Wardle, Forest; and David of London,
There are 24 grandchildren living and two deceased.
On Saturday, January 15 the Gibsons were at home to
their friends and neighbors for tea. Pouring tea in the
afternoon were Mrs. Wm. Ross and Mrs. Armstrong
Wilson; hi the evening, Mrs. Eldon Bradley and Mrs.
May Gibson. •
Congratulatory messages were 'received from the
Governor General of Canada; Prime Minister Pierre
Elliott •Trudeau; Premier William Davis; Opposition
Leader Joe Clark; 'Bab McKinley, MP for -Hilton; MPPs
Murray Gaunt and Jack Riddell. They also received a
scroll from the Province of Ontario as well as telephone
calls from Huntsville and Ottawa.
