ostomy patients
Mrs. Eleanor Taman of 7
Bennett Street East in
Goderich said this week she
would like to hear from all
Ostomy patients in the Huron -
Bruce region who would be
interested in forming an
Ostomy Club and Center
designed to *provide in-
, formation and support for
new Ostomy patients and also
more efficient, and possibly
less expensive equipment
supply.
Those interested patients,
as well as doctors, nurses and
other hospital personnel°
involved with the treatment
of.Ostomy cases, are invited
to join the new organization.
Mrs. Taman asks all such
persons to telephone her. at
524-8127 or write her before
February 12 so that a final
date can be 'established for an
organizational meeting at the
Local
Scouts
camp out
This past weekend, the 4th
Goderich Boy Scouts at-
tended the annual .B uewater
District Winter Camporee at
Harrison Park in Owen
Sound. .
Thirteen scouts, three:
leaders, and three volunteers
from the North Street United
Church group committee
- endured the -20 degree
temperatures for two days
and nights in nylon,tents.
0- This is the second year the
4th has attended this event
which draws about 200 scouts
from the Owen SoundYegion,
The 4th will attend another
campout in conjunction with
the 100] St. Birmingham
(Mich.) Scout Troop at
Pinery Provincial Park on
Feb. 25.26, 2,7.
Goderich
Goderich and District
• Collegiate Institute during
thethird or fourth .week of -
February. The general public
is also invited.
Mrs. Sidney - Tebitt,
president of the London
Ostomy Club, will be on hand
for that meeting to explain
-how such an organization can
serve Ostomy .patients
throughout this area. She will
also present a short film
entitled "The Most Secret -
Surgery Unveiled" ' which
serves to explain away much
of the mystery surrounding
Ostomates."
Mrs. Taman explains that
at the moment OHIP does not
provide coverage for the very
expensive equipment and
drugs needed by Ostomy
patients and that one of the
main topics of discussion will
be organization of a program
to encourage the Ministry of
Health to introduce necessary
legislation to this end. At the
moment only Manitoba
provides such coverage.
The club organizer also
notes that the local hospitals
and pharmacies do not, at the
moment, carry supplies for
Ostomy patients and
establishment of a possible'
program to alter this
situation will also be on the
meeting agenda.
An Ostomy is by-pass
surgery, due to cancer or
other problems, which cir-
cumvents the normal func-
tions of the bowel, bladder or
kidney and usually involves
removal of the damaged
organ.
Those attending the
February meeting are asked
to bring an appliance with
thein.

in fact employed fulltime.
Judge H. Glenn Hays said
in court he was particularly
concerned about this -.type of

of incident "happens with
