Coach Phit Btiigler is confident his GDCI Senior -Viking
basketball squad could go all the way in Huron -Perth league'
action this year and may win some W.O.S.S.A. action in post

off Tuesday night in Vanastra
when they wiped out a 2-0
`deficit and' came back to
thump.Shipka 6-2.
Paul Maguire 'grabbed an,
unassisted goal at 15:47 -of the
first period breaking a double
shutout and putting Shipka up
one at the end of the opener.
With 5:17 left to go in the
middle stanza Maquire
struck again doubling his
club's. lead' but the second
goal seemed,. to ignite' the
failing Merchants. .
Two minutes after' Shipka
grubbed its second goal Paul
Corriveau snapped up a pass
from. Ron Corriveau and put
the Merchants on the board.
A minute.later George Gould
fed 'Cam. McDonald' a .pass
and the winger, pushed in the.
first of this three goals for the
evening giving .Goderich the
equalizerheading into the
final 20 minutes.
The Merchants came out
flying in the third and with 57
seconds played in the period
McDonald struck again
putting, the Merchants in,
front for the first time. Gould
assisted on McDonald's
second tally. A quick line
change and 12 seconds
playing time and Paul
Corriveau had his second goal
of the game and the Mer,.
chants were up two.

cracked the' defense to bring
Huron Park• to within two.
Jim Bell broke clear a minute
later and iced the game with
an unassisted goal that ended
the' scoring. - -
' The Merchants went to
Hensall two days laxer and
dot4iled the Combines 5-2. A
third period Merchant rally
made the difference breaking
a 2-2 tie that held until 15
seconds before 'the end of the
second period.
The game was a goalten-
ders .battle throughout.with
both netrninders nursing
shutouts' until Goderich:• beat
John Gould for the first. goal.
Charlie Robertson fed Ron
Whetstone a pass and he
shoved the puck'past Gould
for a 1-0.Merchant lead.
The scoring stood until the
12:05 mark of the `second
period when Robertson fed
Paul Corriveau a neat pass
and Corriveau beat Gould for
the Merchants' second goal,
The Combines rallied in the
middle period to tie the,score.
Dwight Consitt took Rick.
Duckworth's shutout off him
at ' 2: 34 of the second period.
Steve. Knight and Dave
Kinsman assisted on the goal.
Four minutes later Lloyd
Allan tied the game on a goal
assisted by Bolarlisle and

Jim Hayter. got what
proved to be the winner with
15, seconds left in the period
getting help from Cam
MacDonald. Ron Whetstone
iced the game with two
unanswered goals in the third
period, • one of them
unassisted. -
