When I moved here over two years ago I naturally informed
my insurance agency of my new address and continued doing
business with them,.
imagine my surprise when I received a notice an September
24th informing me thatmy renewal was due September 12th and
they wanted my instructions BgFORE the renewal date, (a
rather difficult task, wouldn't you agree?) anyway, since 1 had a
credit balance of $59,00 I awaited my .new policy before mailing
onlhe balance. Now l get a letter, informing me that my policy
has been cancelled, (no explanation given) and enclosing my
cheque for $59.4.
1 haven't been abte.to find out why this happened, can you?
We received a detaifd explanation • regarding your
Automobile Insurance Pol`cy. You may not like or approve of
their reasons, but here is the gist of their letter to,us,
Notices and not renew r i s; are sent tp: •
. (I) Out Of Town Customers — This obviously includes your•
reader.
(2) Slow Pay.Customers — Your reader's 1974 premium was
due September 7th. It was finally paid up July 23rd 1975, after
J,Lmerous notices were sent, including a.threat of cancellation.
On' September'l2th 1975 the next payment was due but was not
ret;,eived until March llth 1976. Hardly an enviatale..record of
payment.. •

I purchased a gift of -a blouse for my, sister,in Saskatoon, from
a department store last May: As it`did not fit,'my.sister returned
it to me and •1 took it back to the store,: this was1nr'July.,When I ,
•-got there I discovered the exact same blouse wvas noW on sane for
half price, anyway this didn't bother me tpd much because the'y'-
,proinised to credit my account. .
-This they did, but only for the•half price amount,•and all my
efforts to date to have this mistake rectified have failed.
..•
The store 'say that there is a, 10 day deadline for return of
women's apparel for "credit, 'and are a bit puzzled as to why
someone took the blouse back at that late date. However th.ey do
concede that since they did., it "is'their mistake. and also..they
acknowledge the fact, that in your particular case it would.
probably be unreasonable to expect strict adherence to this 10
• day rule, so have agreed to apply the necessary credit dd
• justrnent to your new account statement.

A friend of mine has been separated for close to two years. He
was ordered by the court to pay alimony to his wife and up,tili
now has done, so .•
Lately he was offered, and accepted a job in Winnipeg starting
the beginning of next year. I. know for a fact that the main
reason he is moving West is because he•thinks that he won't have
to pay his wife anymore alimony. 'I've told, him he's crazy, but
he only laughs at me. •
• Can' he -really get out of paying by. moving to a different
province. •
Yo}tr friend can stop laughing because;here is absolutely no
1,waythat he can get out of paying alimon; tp his wife. and when
he moves to Winnipeg,' so too will the Ontario order for altrtiony
to his wife, and this applies 'regardless of how many moves he
makes, or how many Provinces he makes his home in.
The only, change in his alimony payments would have to he
made by a court and the only way that that is likely to happen, is
if, he or his wife obtain a divorce and she re -marries, or if there
is any change in the status of his children, (if any), otherwise
he's stuck with the original court order for alimony payments.
