-The Dungannon Fall Fair
was revived :.Friday when
about 1,500 people braved the
blustery weather to visit the
village agricultural grounds
-and take in..tht 117th fair.
Last year the .Dungannon
Agricultural Society., through
a combination. of
• mismanagement and a
shortage of funds and
workers .did not sponsor•, the
fair; i&
Bob McNeil; president of
the society and Wayne •
Snyder, secretary -treasurer,
applauded th.e support of the
fair shown by members of the•
community who entered the
fair .• competition and who
attended the day long event.
They both agreed that an
extremely hard, working core'
of society members were
responsible for the 're.vival. of
the .fair and predict another.
117 years of success:
The fair kicked.:off about
noon with a paradke through •
the village. Floats entered by
area . schools . and groups
joinedwith horse . owners
riding 'their animals and
wound through the, village to

junior steer while Ian Hackett
.took second spot. In the'junior
heifer Brian Hackett was first
for the. day ahead of 'Ken
Metzger.
In. the 50-50 draw Bob
McNeil won .$.150, Cecil.
Cranston $90 and Marg
McMillan $60. Other trophy •
winners in fair classes have
nox .yet been determined' by
,,.the fair committee and
results were not available.
The .committee did report
that a capacity, crowd stayed
after .the competition was
over to enjoy a fair dance
with Boyd's • orchestra
providing the music.
