The donation came in the mail this week as a result of a letter published in the Signal Star recently. The letter alluded to difficulties the girls' are . encountering trying to raise `money for their •trip south pointing out that under Guide ,law no soliciting .of' funds can ;be done by the Guides but donations can be 'accepted. Ina letter to Guide leader = Sylvia Brady, Ms. Hume said; that as ."one of the . original– Goderich Guides" she was " pleased to hear that guiding in Goderich is still thriving. She said that her involvement :.. with Guides in the '30's did not include trips to Mexico,. her life thanks to leaders like Margaret Nairn, Gertrude Wilkes, Edith Taylor and Joan Groves. • Mrs :rady-said that the $25 dog ion brings the total ount gathered to about. $1,000 and with an August 22 departure date set she added that= the girls., are .going to have to work hard •to earn their own funds. Since there are now two separateschool trustees on the 16=member Huron County Board of Education, the. public school trustees must be reduced by one to 14. It was pointed out by the executive committee chairman, Allan Campbell: it is a county council respon- sibility to delegate school electoral *boundaries before.- September 1, 1976 and prior to the fall elections. Legg of 97 West Street in Goderich is the proud owner of a 1976 Ford LTD this morning after his ticket was drawn in the May 24 Knights of Columbus contest held in Niagara. Falls. The province -wide draw in aid of the Canadian Arthritis Society had three' winners, one of .which was Mr. Legg. Three cars were -put on the block and -Mr. Legg's ticket number "B" 669565 won him the keys to the Ford. Mr. Legg drove to Niagara Falls Wednesday morning to pick up the automobile and • said before leaving that it is the "first time ever" that he has won anything.
