Poll'eY` were -rivals on the road, but "Jock, was always good- natured and in that way drew, a good business; although his. accommodation was ' very poor he always had a full load". Jock Adams died in 1913 at Walkerton. A.M. Polley, best remembered as proprietor of a livery stable in Goderich, died here in 1921. ' There .is a boyhood memory" of the lean .horses, of the Lucknow stage being rested overnight in a lot and .small stable at Nelson and Victoria' streets, just `west of the present Esso station.. (One 'wonders what hostler, fed and watered . them six days a week, while The alternating„ pair worked.) '• Upon opening of the Buffalo and' Goderich Railway on June 28:, 1858, a daily mail to • Kincardine, was established, a contemporary newspaper item states, "carried hor- seback from Goderich". 'Presumably this was the beginningof the Kincardine stage Service.
