Sas aitch a hit at Robertson
Harry the Sasquatch seemed to be a hit
when Grades K through 8 at Robertson
Memorial P.S. enjoyed their Christmas
present from the teachers, Harry and the
Hendersons! We would like to thank the
park theatre ifor providing pop and pop-
corn as the children watched the movie It
was an excellent movie. Thank you 'vary
much teachers!
Students of Grade 2 were surprised to
find delivered to their door letters from the
north pole! Santa Claus wrote long letters
to all the good little girls and boys and pro-
mised to do his best to bring them the toys
they wanted, Grade 2 had lots of fun sing-
ing dinosaur songs and helping their Grade
ones with their Christmas musical for the
Christmas assembly. Miss Braid and all
her Grade two pupils wish everyone. A
very Merry Christmas!
The Grade three class was very happy to
present a musical play called "Have a
Heart It's Christmas!" The play had many
appealing and entertaining songs, climax-
ing the spirit of Christmas. All the pupils
put forth an excellent effort in learning
their many individual lines and songs.

Grade five and six students were busy
getting ready for Christmas this past
week. The students did a wonderful job
making the door of the Resource Room
look like the Night Before Christmas.
Everyon who helped deserved 'a special
thanks f r their hard work. Grade two's
are jus 'finishing their funny "Night
Before Christmas" books. They are great!

Mrs. Crocker's Grade eight class spent
an enjoyable two periods at Goderich
District Collegiate on Monday, Dec. 14.
Mr. Philip MacMillan kindly agreed to
teach them some aspects of mime. The
students and teacher enjoyed the theatre
arts lesson in the drama room.
Our school spirit was on display on
several occasions when all students and
staff gathered in the gym throughout
December for Christmas carolling.
As well as mass singing, these
assemblies included songs from in-
dividuals and small groups. Each day also
featured recognition for Robertson
achievements in sports and school ac-
tivities. What a delightful way to share and
spread the wonderful holiday spirit.
There were several highlights but we
will never forget the resounding rendition
of The Twelve Days of Christmas, the sur-
prise visit from Santa on the last day, Mr.
Stecca's favourite carol (Good King
Wencelas) and Mr. Yeats' solid bass voice.

creative contest winners announced
Thank you to all of the classroom
reporters for their Lard work writing their
news. We were pleased with the amount of
entries for our Creative Christmas Con-
test. It was hard to decide on a winner in
each category. Brookside editors wish
everybody a Merry Christmas and a happy
new year.
Creative Christmas Contest
The winners of our contest were Melanie
Nicholson grade 2, Joshua Foster grade 5,
Joan Ferguson grade 6 and Tracy
Chambers grade 8. Honorable mention
goes to Karen Hodges, Sandra Meader,
Doug Barger, Jordon Andrew and Laura
Gilbert. The contest was a success and
there were a lot of entries. Thank you to all
who entered. The newspaper will be prin-
ting some of the entries.
K 1 Mrs. Cameron's
This week we finished making
Christmas decorations for our tree. We
also made a Rudolph bag puppets.
Grade 2-3
The Dinosaur Den Frog has changed into
a beautiful princess with a castle! We put
10 spaghetti worms into the potion on
Wednesday and the wizard drank it! We've
had fun with. our Christmas centres .this
week, and Santa Clarke came to our room
to help us make a top secret „project. We
wish everyone a very Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year! See you in 1988!
Grade 4
On Tues. Dec. 15 room 9 made ginger-
bread houses,. It was a lot of fun! The
Brookside Christmas Concert was good.
Brookside School gets out on Friday 18th
(We're looking 'forward to it!). Yesterday
and today we're doing Christmas activities
with Mr. Farnell. Lee Drennen's birthday
was Tues. Dec. 15th. This week was fun!
Grade 5
Mrs Webster's Grade 5 class had a pizza
party on Wed. Dec. 16 for a going away
party to Mrs. Webster. Brooksides Tues-
day night concert was a blast. The grade 5
and 5 & 6 class did a play called Com -

puterized Christmas. Hello again Mrs.
Worsen! On the 16th Mrs. Worsen came to
the school with her baby girl, Charlotte.
The class is busy making surprise
Christmas gifts.
Grade 6'
On the sixteenth of Dec. Mrs. Tebbutt's
grade six class had Brigitte Wolf come in
and show us how to make wreaths out of
cornhusks. We appreciated her coming in
because our wreaths are great Christmas
presents. Thanks again!
Room 6 Readers
The Room 6 Readers have been very
busy doing many different Christmas ac-
tivities over the past two weeks. We wrote
stories, did puzzles, read lots of Christmas
booksand decorated a Nichola tree. - a
tree on which only Santa Claus aments
were hung. On Thursday we made popcorn
chains and hung sweet pretzels we had
made on our Christmas tree.
Sports News
We have now completed our junior
volleyball houseleague. Congratulations to
Mrs. Blanchettes and Mrs. Websters team
6, the Hawks who were in first place. Mr.
Culps team 1, the Eagles were second and
Mrs. Blake/Miss Jewitts team 7 the
Falcons were 3rd.
We are presently having try outs for the
junior volleyball teams. The tournament is
on Jan. 15/88.
Concert News
The Brookside PS held the Christmas
Concert on Dec. 15th. Grade K-2 did a
Jingle Bell Drill and a choral reading to
welcome everyone. Joel Wright, the

The Goderich Kinsmen Club recently donated $100 to the Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital. The money, used to purchase a Christmas tree and decorations for the hospital's

North Pole, as Grades 1J, 1M, 2B, 3-0, 4C,
5W, 5-6 S and the Junior Choir presented
"Christmas Is..." In spite of terrible
weather, our auditorium was packed and
we really appreciate the community sup-
port. Thanks to everyone who helped in
any way. Grades 7 and 8, as well as the
Primary Choir and the Senior Choir per-
formed a Christmas assembly on Thurs-
day, Dec. 17, at 9:05 a.m. They also put on
their show for the Dungannon Senior
Citizens on Monday, Dec. 14.

The Goderich 'Iburist Committee seeks assistance from the community for
nominations in relation to the GOVERNMENT OF CANADA'S CELEBRA-
TION '88 AWARDS PROGRAM which is part of the country's 1988 Olym-
pics celebration. There are two types of awards - Medals and Certificates with
support information outlined in the nomination forms below. Nominations
