Their presentation will include slides of buildings featured in their new book, "Tavern in the Town". Copies of the book will be available for sale. All are welcome. Free tickets are available at the library. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd at 8 p.m. there will be a Variety Program at The MacKay Centre for Seniors. Tony Hyde, Gordon Harrison anal Noreen Madge will be providing musical entertainment and leading a sing -song. A guest speaker and a short film is also planned. NOVEMBER 23 A Public Meeting will be held at the MacKay Centre for Seniors on November 23rd at 7:30 p.m., to determine what services are presently available in the Goderich area for seniors and what need expanding or developing. Input and ideas from seniors in the area would be appreciated so please plan to attend. NOVEMBER 27 Goderich Christmas Lights Festival - "Opening Ceremony" Friday, November 27th 7:00 p.m., Court House Park. Fun for the whole family - Santa Claus, Tree Lighting Ceremony, School Choirs, Low Level Fireworks Finale. For more information contact the Goderich Tourism Office at 524-6600. VOLUNTEER KNITTERS - Wool supplied year round to people willing to knit mitts for Family and Children's Services for the Huron County Christmas Bureau. Please pick up wool at Schaefer's Ladies Wear or Norma's Sewing Centre and return mitts by December 7, 1987 to the same place. Happy 80th Birthday November 19 JOY SMITH Entertaining the children Well-known children's entertainers, April and Susan, were in Goderich Monday afternoon at Victoria Public School. Primary students from Victoria, St. Mary's and Robertson attended the concert. The Toronto musicians, April Kassirer and Susan Marcus, delighted the children with a wide variety of original, whimsical songs, poems and theatrics, along with a lot of audience participation as evidenced in the one photo. The production will be directed by Robin Phillips, Director of the Young Company. The season also will mark the 40th anniversary of this remarkable actor's distinguished career in Canadian theatre and his 29th season of involvement with the Stratford Festival, including 13 years as.Associate Director. William Hutt. made his professional debut in 1948 with the Bracebridge Sum- mer Stock Company. After five years of,. work with various stock and touring com- panies, he joined the Festival of its in- augural season in 1953. Plummer, Maggie Tyzak, Dame Edith Evans and Jessica Tandy. He was invested in 1969 with the Compa- nion of The Order of Canada and, in 1974, won Genie and ACTRA Awards for his per- formance as Sir John A. Macdonald in "The National Dream" (CBC) and the Prix Anik Award for his portrayal of George Bernard Shaw in "The First Night of Pygmalion" (CBC). Mr. Hutt has Honorary Doctorates from three major Canadian universities and in December, 1984, was recognized by the Speaker of the House of Commons as "one of Canada's greatest actors". "Robin's Young Company is so full of vibrant, enthusiastic talents," said William Hutt, "and I feel deeply privileged, to be invited to share my past with their futures in this most exciting project." "I am delighted that Bill Hutt is going to join us in the Young Company and everyone at the Third Stage is proud to have him as a guest," Robin Phillips, Director of the Young Company, said to- day. "We are honoured that he has chosen to celebrate his 40th anniversary with us." Auxiliary makes A doOn Novembernations61 10th, members of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary met for their November meeting. President Marg Baker called the meeting to order with Comrades Heidi Beadle and Marion Hayes carrying the colours. Corresponding secretary, Iris Sampson, read many thank you notes from grateful in- dividuals and groups. Donations were made to the Huron Day Centre for the Home- bound, Family and Children Services and Goderich Ringette Association. The annual Snowflake Bazaar was a great success, thanks to generous contributions and buyers. Plans for the Veterans' Christmas Party, Nov. 26th, are progressing well under Com- rade Karen Draper's leadership. A donation of $7,000 was approved to aid the local Branch with renovations and maintenance of their building. It was presented at the levee that followed the parade and service on Nov. 11th. Comrade Irene Sparks won the mystery prize and Comrade Wendy McAstocker the 'Early Bird' membership draw. The meeting was adjourned by Con rade Marion Hayes.
