November meeting of the Pine River United Church met on Tuesday evening, November 9th in the basement of the church. The meeting opened with Ruth Farrell taking over the duties of the president Maithell Wilson who was under the weather at the time of the meeting. Ruth opened the meeting with the sing- ing of the hymn, "Let There be Peace on Earth". The Purpose of the United Church women was repeated in unison. The roll call was answered by the 17 ladies present. The offering was received and was dedicated with a prayer given by Ruth Farrell. The meeting was then taken over by the convenor Thelma Godfrey. Thelma read the scriptures and the hymn, "For the Healing of the Nations" was sung. Thelma then showed the ladies a film which was taken from one of the most southern islands of the Philippines "The Vanishing Earth". It was a very interesting film. It gave you an insight of the life style of the natives. But it is very sad to see what the white man is doing. Thelma closed in prayer. Grace was sung and a lovely lunch was served by the lunch committee. A social hour was had by the ladies.
