THANKOFFERING SERVICE
The Thankoffering service of the Auburn
Hall U.C.W. was held on October 28 at 8 p.m.
Guests were present from Holmesville, Don-
nybrook, Londesboro and the village.
Mrs. Greg Park welcomed everyone and
read from Psalm 92.
Mrs. Peter Verbeek introduced the guest
speaker Rev. Kathie Urbasik from North St.
United Church Goderich. She was ordained
in 1984 and ministered three years in a rural
charge in New Brunswick before coming to
Goderich. Rev. Urbasik gave an outline of
her life and told how she was studying to be
a social worker. Then she felt that she was
needed somewhere else and God called her
into his service. She read from Exodus and
spoke on how Moses felt that he was not the
right man for the job when God called him.
However God presuaded him that he used
men of every type and Moses obeyed. So we
should serve God to the best of our abilities.
If we put our trust in God He will support us
in all we do. Mrs. Tom Jardin thanked Rev.
Urbasik for her inspiring speech.

ment of self-esteem, a study of peer in-
fluence, moral reasoning skill, decision
making, and the rule of law. This program
is being offered to Grades 6-8.
Grade 1/2 teacher Mrs. Bard Eedy spoke
briefly on the new Family Life Program
currently being studied by her 1/2 class.
Father Ed Dentinger spoke on the man-
date of a Catholic school system being to
help students develop spiritually as well as
socially and academically. He mentioned
how important it is to get good moral stan-
dards for our children in the school
system.
Afterwards parents had a chance to visit
each of the classrooms, meet and chat with
the teachers and, those who wished, were
given the opportunity to work on the
computers.
For the occasion the school was
populated by life-size Hallowe'en dummies
made by the grade 7/8 class and decorated
with other Hallowe'en art by the other
classes. It was a most interesting and n -
formative evening for all.
Friday, Oct. 30th was a particular! • ex-
citing day for everyone. The morning was
passed with the annual ritual of student
picture taking, while the excitement
mounted for the afternoon Hallowe'en par-
ty. The party began with a costume parade
by each of the.classrooms and prizes being
awarded for the.,top 3 costumes in each
room; a task made particularly difficult
by all the excellent costumes. The rest of
the afternoon was spent participating in a
variety of Hallowe'en orientated games
and activities.
Students are now busy dra'xing posters
and doing other Remembrance Day
projects.
Father Ed made his weekly visit to each
of the classrooms as well. He is always
eagerly looked forward to and welcomed
by staff and students alike.
