( Rob Bundy photo) Chicken Producers seminar will be held in Clinton soon Ontario Hydro invites Ontario's broiler chicken producers to register for its one -day educational seminars to be held in Strathroy,, Clinton and Welland in November and December this year. The seminars • take place November'- 12, November 18 and December 9. Producers will learn about the effect of electric heat on cost, quality and health of the crop, reports Peter Nicholas, Agricultural Marketing supervisor at Hydro's Western Region office in London. Roaster chicken producer Theo VanAsten from Rodney will report on his experience in operating two similar barns, one heated by electricity and the other by propane. Seminar speaker Norm Bird, poultry specialist with the • Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food I OMAF I in Stratford- . will centre his talk on creating ideal barn environments for production. He'll discuss the use of heat purnps in barns as well as use of computers in controlling the barn environment. A representative from Hamilton Porcelains Ltd. of Brantford, will discuss the company's electric, propane and natural gas radiant heating products. Hydro's supervisor of 'agricultural marketing Graharn Henderson will discuss standby electrical generator and the re- quirements of 'the. insurancLdustry•for protection against crop loss resulting from power failure. Customer service super- visors from Hydro area offices are to describe Hydro's approach to planned power outages in rural areas, answer ques- tions on how trouble calls and new electric service layouts are handled'.
