Kirkeys evens final series with
Denommes in fastball action
The Goderich Industrial' Fastliall
League playoffs continued last week as
Kirkey's evenedthe series at one game
apiece with a come from behind 3-2 win.
Both teams had chances -early in the
game, but were unable to capitalize,
Denommes scored first when Greg
Beacom doubled and John Hoy immediate-
ly followed with an RBI single. An inning
later Kirkey's tied the game. With one out,
Paul Kelly doubled and then Paul Bartliff
hit a two -out single to score Kelly. But
Denommes jumped right back into the
lead when shortstop Brian Moody led off
the fifth with a triple. The next two batters
struck out and walked respectively, but
finally Gary Muxlow hit a sacrifice fly to
right field to score Moody..
In the sixth Denommee pitcher John
FASTBALL
Verway, who had allowed only two hits and
struck out five, ran into trouble. Two con-
secutive singles put men on first and se-
cond. Verway struck the next batter out,
but thenwas replaced by Gary Muxlow.
With two out and the bases loaded, Kirkey
pitcher Terry Johnston smashed a double
to score two runs.
In the top of the seventh, Denornmes got
the tying ,run aboard, • but were unable to
score him. Johnston allowed five hits and
struck out ten.
The third game went Monday and the
fourth games goes tonight.

Neil Shaw was kind enough to send us this picture on the 19$6 Detroit Tigers. he said many
of the players from the 1035 World Championship team were still on the roster. Shaw said ke
is the only Tigers fan in his home.
