This past July 12, as the Raiders took the field, against Home Hardware, Cori McLean went into labour. Dan is new to this and asked her to wait awhile!' (Ac- tually he thought it was false labour again — even though she was 6 days over -due) . In an effort to get Dan and Cori to the hospital on time, the Raiders rallied to mercy Home Hardware 16-1 in five. , To make a long story short, Chelsea Jane ar= rived a short while later, tipping the scales at 8 ib., 14 oz. Congratulations to GMSL Treasurer, Dan McLean, and wife Cori on the safe arrival of. Chelsea, hereafter nicknamed "Mercy McLean". Despite their warnings, the Cosmos have been disqualified from further GMSL ac- tion by Article VI, Section 9, No. 7, of the GMSL constitution (an ammendrnent passed at the spring meeting). For their remaining regular season , games ..(five) the, opposition will be awarded two points and a 15-0 margin of victory. The -.play-off format will be re -structured to ac- comodate three - 8 team divisions. Though it is sad to see this action take place, it is necessary for the harmony of the league. After two weeks of confusion, the.stan- 4'ding& have been sorted out and reveal several unprecedented log jams throughout! We have these jam-ups because of the "numerous"'unpredictable outcomes! Let me just list a few of these from the past " two weeks. ° How many of you would have predicted the following outcomes? Sunys 8, BBs 6; Raiders 7, Shanahans 3; Elevators 2, Can Tire 0; Chisholm 6, Bulldogs 4; Cosmos.4, Home H. 4; Gators 5, BBs 8; Coyotes '6, Ideal 4; Can Tire 12, Ideal 9; Elevators 11, Sifto 8; Little Bowl 5, Lakeland 5; Dearborn 8, Elevators 8; Raiders 16, Home H. 1; Chisholm 2, Local 1863 1. In some cases, you may have predicted the outcome — but •possibly not the narrow margin of victory. This has become one hell of a tough league to play in. With only 2 weeks to go until play-offs, allow me to dream about the possible "A" division format. Chrysler, with their stingy defence, is on top of the pack, playing .905 ball on 38 points in 21 games. They should be the team to beat — but don't count on it! The Chiefs - alias - The whinners and criers, probably won't even make "A" by seasons end. Sunys got off to a great start but don't have the defence to win the crucial game. The Coyotes will probably replace the Chiefs and do much more justice to an "A" division finish! Canadian Tire is doing extremely well considering the personnel they lost in the off season, but they don't have the offence or' the defence to go far in A division ball. However, they are playing well and could make a liar out of me! Thruway Muffler is a very tough tourna- ment team but have never done much in our play-offs. I don't expect much different this year (sorry guys! ). Boyes are a. solid second for this year and they are a great team - but the discipline is not there yet. They won't cut it in the play-offs sorry to say! Port Albert Bulldogs have, potentially, the best team in this league. However, they exhaust themselves at tournament and have left for play-offs or key season games! The are a team that is rich by tournament — but in our league, they are a bunch of "Could Have Beens"! Ideal Supply is still the team to beat for the big one! They• are playing very de- jected ball at the present --- due primarily to a couple of league decisions that went against them. One of those decisions, I per- sonally disagree with — but that is the pro- cess — and process - so — let it be so! At times, ' strange things happen at general league meetings! No one can predict and no-one can acount for it. But, it is a "good" process, and though it may not seem so at times, to individual parties, the end result is usually justified! Ken and the boys are perhaps, tem- porarily, disillusioned by the process! However, I have watched these guys play ball for "too" many years and I know that they are not done yet! This sort of thing, will pull them together, not tear them apart! They are a first class team and will "bear" out these statements before the season is done! They will meet Chrysler in the final for "A" and should.win it! • Well fans, there you have it — the Brewsters predictions! If I'm wrong, that is great, and if I'm right, that is great - but what is truly "awesome' (as Ronny would say) is the parity in our league this year! . Next week will feature the standings and Brewsters "B" division picks! Some love it, and many hate it - but that isthe name of the game! I write the way you play and if you don't like it, then play better! The heat is on! Tune in next week! P.S: A message from Tim Frawley; Turn in your ticket stubs now! You have had ' plenty of time.
