brought it home and made decorations like

pictures and other things so that the whole
house smelled like a forest. The Grand-
parents curled crape paper and from the
corners of the ceiling they brought it to the
center of dining and living room ceilings.
Then a huge bell was put in the center.
Every Christmas morning Great -
Grandfather read the Christmas story and
after that the family knelt down in prayer
thanking God for all the blessings during
that year. Before the guests came the
Children could only open their stockings.
The stockings were generously filled with
fruits and nuts if they were good a little can-
dy, When the guests come everybody open-
ed the rest of the presents. Christmas din-
ner was the goose that had been fattened up
all, year. The vegetables were from the
garden. For desert they would have
Christmas pudding, fancy cookies and
Christmas cake. After supper the whole
family would sing Christmas carols and
play games. And thats how my Grand-
parents spent Christmas on their farm in
Port Albert area sixty years ago.

MY CHRISTMAS WISH
My Christmas wish would be to have a
porche. I could drive around town. The only
problem is I don't have a licence but my

.Christmas for my Parents
About 2 days before Christmas my moms
family would put up the tree and all their
other decorations. On Christmas eve my
mom and her sister would go to bed at 6:00.
While they were sleeping a few of their
friends from the church helped wrap and
put presents under the tree. At midnight
they would be aroused to open add play with
their presents until about 3:00 to 3:30. After
that they'd ,go to bed until they woke up. In
the morning there was always something
that had to be done. Grandma was fixing
dinner, Grandpa was visiting and they'd
have to set the table. Afterwards they'd
have the turkey and the other stuff for
Christmas dinner.
Dad lived in a family of seven kids and
didn't have the most eventful Christmas.
They would set their tree up about a week
before Chirstmas. On Christmas day they'd
have to do the chores and eat breakfast
before they could open their presents. After
they had opened their presents and played
with them they went to their grandma's and
had dinner with all their aunts, uncles and
cousins.

MY CHRISTMAS WISH
One night I will write a Christmas letter to
Santa. When I write a Christmas letter I feel
greedy because almost whatever you see
you want. Last year 1 wanted a lot of things.
On Christmas I realised I was a little
greedy. My mom and dad say I'm not
greedy I'm just giving Santa a list to choose
from. The, thing I want the most is a puppy
or a kitten. If thats too big then just to go on
a long trip with my family. I think
Christmas is fun. I get to see my whole fami-
ly. I've always wanted a puppy or a kitten.
I've had a puppy before but it needed a
friend, so we gave it away. We were hardly
home to take care of it. My family and I
have been on lots of trips but I want to go for
a long time. I hope I have a good Christmas.

going somewere tar. like Toronto to visit my

MY CHRISTMAS WISH
One night I looked down on my dog, Muf-
fin. He looked so lonely. I said to myself
"You need a friend," and continued wat-
ching my show. Just then my mother called
and said time to go to bed. That night I notic-
ed a star. I said, "Star light, star bright.
first star I see tonight. wish I may wish I
may I have a wish tonight." I wishfor
another dog. On Cristmas day I didn't get a
dog but the neighbour got one and Muffin
played with her all the time. -
