The real
reason for
Christmas is
being lost
The Commercialization of Christmas
More and more the real reason for
Christmas is being lost. Stores take advan-
tage of this special time to advertise their
goods by tying them into Christmas.
For example, the way the stores print
Christmas, instead of spelling it `Christ'
mas, they spell it X-mas.. Forgetting
everything about the religious part.
Another example is the commercial about
Santa Claus showing kids all kinds of toys
and than showing all kinds of other products
that have nothing to do with Christmas.
And still another is when travel agencies
advertise how it would be good to take a trip
to another country during the Christmas
holidays. And isn't Christmas a time to be
together with your family?
We are being flooded with this non -related
Christmas commercials and I think that
something should be done about this! I think
that stores should concentrate more on the
religious part of Christmas!

Christmas Commercialized -
Leave Christ in Christmas, and take out
commercialism.
Anytime around Christmas you can see an
advertisement that clearly says "Christmas
is a time for us to make money and for you
to save." Santa Claus is being used to at-
tract children's attention and get their
parent's to watch. In one advertisement it
says, "When parents come into buy for their
kids they will see the savings and buy for
themselves, too." In another they show San-
ta as a person who wants to save, save,
SAVE! Santa pulls up to the drive through
window and orders a couple of burgers.
When the guy says that he could save money
n a certain toy when he buys 400 dinners.
Hardly anyone sees Christmas as a
religious celebration, Jesus' birth. Almost
everyone sees it as a time to be with family
and to get gifts. Don't forget, it's Christmas,
made from Christ as in Jesus Christ and
God. Alot of, the stores have Xmas sales.
They're just putting a great big X through
the true meaning of Christmas.
This Christmas, keep Christ in mind when
you're with your family and opening those
gifts. And remember it's Christ's birthday
you're celebrating. Not how much money
you saved or made.
