Mrs. Scott's Grade 4 class is starting to
work on Christmas centres on December 16.
The students really enjoy doing the centres.
There were a lot of Moms and Dads at the
concert on Tuesday, December 16. They are
having another Pay Day on December 18.
The students will be bringing in toys to let
other students buy. The prices will be no
more than $1 (play money of course).
The traditional arm bars will not be part
of our awards program this year. We have
implemented a new certificate on which
special seals are placed in order to
recognize various achievements through the
year.
Mrs. Cameron's Kindergartern 1 made
reindeer and bells. They would like to wish
everyone a Merry Christmas.
In Room 4, Krakatoa, we have a beautiful
cedar tree, thanks to the Daltons. With our
Grade 8 friends we made ornaments in
pyramid and cube shapes. We have hun-
dreds of paper chains too, four long strings
each containing 100 chains. We are working
at Christmas centres. We went carolling on
Thursday and when we came back we' had
warm wassail. Merry Christmas, everyone.
Our reporters interviewed Miss Jill
Clynick this week. She came to Brookside a
year ago to teach Phys. Ed. and Special
Education. Miss Clynick lives in Clinton
with her parents. She had two brothers and
three sisters. Her father teaches at Clinton
Secondary School and her mother works at
the Clinton Chiropractic Centre. After
Teacher's College, she taught at the
American International School in
Bangladash, a third world country east of
' India. Then she did supply teaching in Lon-
don and Huron County for three months
before coming to Brookside. Miss Clynick's
hobbies are skiing and all sports. Her
favorite game is squash. She enjoys time at
the family cottage near Port Albert in the
summer. Miss Clynick really enjoys
Brookside and staff and students really en-
joy having her here.
The annual Christmas concert was held on
Tuesday, December 16. The programme
began with the Junior Choir conducted by
Mrs. Worsell and accompanied by Mrs.
Jewitt. They sang "Carolling, Carolling",
"Do You Hear What I Hear", and "Stars
That Twinkle and Shine." Mrs. Blan-
chette's K2 class put on "Christmas in
Kindergarten." They also helped Miss
Jewitt's Grade 2 class portray "A Mother
Goose Christmas."
Miss Mather's Grade 1 and Mrs. Scott's
Grade 4 class collaborated to present "A
Special Christmas Tree" using flashlights

Miss 'Jewitt's Grade 2 had an extra stu-
dent on December 17. Daniel, the cocker
spaniel, came to school with Mrs. Webster.
The children measured their new friend.
His ears are 10 cm long and his tail is 6 cm
long. Everyone enjoyed writing stories and
drawing pictures about Danny. Wouldn't it
be fun if a dog could come to school every
day!
