At the : nd Tf than onnrerf a kui1'prtse oc-
curred- Santa Claus came st.rui,iaug
through the audience teasing all of the
morns and dads. As he was talking he was
setting up some microphones. We didn't
know what was happening. He then in-
troduced the Grandmas and Grandpas
who came to the front of the gym abd sang
"Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer."
This number featured most of the Colborne
staff. What they lacked for in talent, they
made up for in nerve.
We would like to thank everyone who
helped with the concert; Mrs. Hazlitt and
Miss Steinbach who helped us with the
music, the staff for coaching us with the
numbers, Marcy for being Master of
Ceremonies, the audience for being so sup-
portive, the many adult volunteers who
helped us through this first term, the grade
6,7, and 8 pupils who decorated the gym,
the Wark family who loaned us their syn-
, thesizer, and especially the staff who took
the time along with their busy roles to
prepare their own surprise for the concert.
This week the entire school has been
gathering in the gym first thing in the mor-
ning to sing Christmas Carols. The
children are bringing in used toys and

their letters to Santa Claus.
2. The grade 2-3 class have written let-
ters to Santa. They have also made a Big
Book about Santa and his reindeer.
3. Many og our senior choir members
went to the Blyth Playhouses to see Prairie
Boys Week last Friday.
4. The staff has rented the Park Theatre
in Goderich on Thursday so that the kids
can be treated to Flight of the Navigator.
The staff is paying for the tickets.
5. The entire school is going skating on
Friday afternoon thanks to the Goderich
Recreation Committee. Parents and
friends are invited to join us.

Legion Remembrance Day contest: Jason
Beau, a grade 8 student who placed third in
the poster division; Rosemary Linton, a
grade 5 student who placed first in the
essay division; Karen Millian, a grade 5
student who placed fourth in the poem divi-
sion; and, Heather Blackwell, a grade 5

people gone?" Then, they'll double up on
the ad campaigns highlighting reindeer
and beavers and beg subsidies from the
government. And the record goes round
and round.
The answer to attracting a free flow of
visitors to this country lies not in flashy
ads, domed stadiums or even one more
rotating restaurant. The answer lies in a
wicker basket of hot chicken wings with
blue cheese and celery on the side at the
bar called Danny Zack's in Buffalo, New
York. Show the people a nice time at a
fair price and they'll have to make all
three lanes of the Peace Bridge one way
with arrows pointed toward Canada.
