_Atoms tie
St. Marys,
lose to London
Just seven seconds into the first period'
Friday night in London, Billy Ingham'
scored an unassisted goal to give the
Goderich Machinist Atoms a slim 1-0 lead,
over the hometown London Sabres.
Just 20 seconds later, however, the Sabres
scored to tie the game and then rallied with
four straight goals to take a 5-1 lead before ,
Goderich scored two more late in the third
period to end the contest 5-3 in favor of
London.
Good positional play by the Sabres along
with some penalty problems with Goderich
proved to be the locals' downfall, especially ,
in the first two periods.
On Saturday in Goderich, the locals drew
first blood against visiting St. Marys on a
goal by David Boyce, with Drew Macauley
assisting. St. Marys tied the game in the
third • period, however, as the two teams
skated to a 1-1 tie.
Bryan Hodges of the Goderich Machinist Atoms had to battle the bouncing puck as well as
this St. Marys player on his back during Shamrock hockey action Saturday afternoon in
Goderich. The Atoms scored first in the game, as David Boyce found net, but St. Marys
managed to tie the game 1-1. (photo by Andy Bader)
