Grade 3 class reads up a storm
Mrs. Clarke's Grade 3 class is reading
up a storm. The book worrn is getting
longer. It has 140 circles. They also have
faces to tell how they feel. They hang on
the wall. Each child has a clothes pin, with
their, name on it to hang up on the faces.
The faces are sad, worried, happy, angry
or uncertain.
They also did water paintings. They put
water on the paper, then paint. This week,
they will be starting their Christmas cen-
tre and they are introducing John S.
Dalton.
Mrs. Tebbutt's Grade 6 class had two
students, Nathan Daer and Michael Cere,
visit Victoria School Nov. 27 -28 and Dec. 1
to participate in a Regional Enrichment
Program on Egyptians. Michael and
Nathan presented a report on their ac-
tivities
in their Book Club meeting this
week.
On Thursday, Dec. 14; Bridget Wolfe
came to teach Grades 4-5 some artwork on
cords. We enjoyed working with her very
much.
Mrs. Ottewell's Grade 3 class is doing
Christmas activities and centres. We are
doing math, colour sheets, crafts,
Christmas shapes, Christmas paintings,
reading, books, storeis and poems.
Miss Jewitt's Grade 2 class has been
busy exploring.the mysteries of the briny
deep, Through stories, poems, songs,
films and artwork, sea creatures have in-
vaded the classroom.
After an exciting trip to Glen McNeil's
• dairy farm, the class made butter, butter-
milk, ice-cream and cheese curds.
Mrs. Young's Grade 1-2 class made a
Christmas alphabet Big Book. We are
reading many Christmas stories and have
also started our Christmas activities. We
wish Adam Sinclair well at his new school.
Mrs. Ottewell's Grade 3 students reveal-
ed secrets at a party on Wednesday, Dec.
10 when recipe books written under the
leadership of volunteer Mrs Webster were
presented as Christmas gifts to moms,
dads or grandparents. Some of the recipes
had been made by the class and were eaten
at the party along with wassail the
children made from cider, apple juice and
spices. Visitors shared Christmas
memories and joined in Christmas sing-
ing. The Grade 3 class sang for their
guests and Heather Robinson' played the
violin.
On December 9, Mrs. Scott's Grade 4
class had a Grandparent's Day. They each
brought a grandparent, their aunt or their
BROOKSIDE
BROADCAST
mother. They served many drinks and
treats. We would like to thank all of the
grandparents who came to the Grade 4
classroom. Grade 4 has really been prac-
ticing for the concert.
On December 12, Grade 8 students
helped Mrs. Clarke's Grade 3 class make
Christmas ornaments from pyramids and
cubes. Grade 8 students are taking part in
the concert, doing a play with Grade 7.
Kindergarten 2 was a busy place on Fri-

tri-day morning as Mrs. Sygrove showed the
children how to make houses using mer-
ingue icing to hold walls together and
decorating with colorful candies.
Volunteers helping with this enterprise
were Mrs. Brenda Wylds, Mrs. Joan
Black, Mrs. Janet Brooks, Mrs. June.
Meader and Mrs. Marie Wilkins. Mrs. lee
Graham, art co-ordinator, was also on
hand to help. Later she helped the children
make macarone wreaths. Thanks to Mrs.
