A Olte QlliriMina� 'pirit is waiting for you with a visit to N • i1ain street %1agth1b North Street United Church, Goderich, was the setting for the October marriage of Janice Anne Brown and Theodore Johanne Popma, both of London, Ontario. • Jan is the daughter of Marj Robinson of Goderich and Bud Brown off Kincardine. Ted is the son of Peter and Catharine Pop - ma of Woodstock. The attendants for the bride and groom were Paul Patrick of Lon- don and Trish Pemberton of Waterloo. Guests were ushered by the groom's brothers, Jim, Bob, Tom and Gerrard Pop - ma. Following a vacation in Antigua, Jan and Ted are living in London, Ontario, where they are both employed at laboratory technologists at Victoria Hospital. Barbara Christina MacCormack, of 63 St. Patrick St. in Goderich, and Ross Alexander Youngblut, of RR 1 Auburn, son of Major Youngblut, were married November 7 at the Goderich Courthouse by justice of the peace Karen Sturdy. Attending the bride and groom were Jacqueline Anne Berry of Huron Park and Brian Glousher of RR 1 Auburn. A reception and dinner was held at the bride's home. The couple are residing at 63 St. Patrick St. until spring when they will move to RR 1 Auburn. (photo by Robert Berry) UCW hold November meeting The evening unit of North Street United Church. Women met at Maitland Manor for their November meeting. Wilma Charlton opened the meeting with a prayer, "Dear God Help Us Grow Old." Irla Stewart, Jean Hanly, Shirley McMillan and Lou Bundy entertained us with music and song with everyone joining in. David Bogie sang a solo, "A Song for Thanksgiving." Allan and Heather Zur- brigg, Karen Millian and David Bogie joined to sing "The Copy Scat" accompanied by Irla Stewart as pianist. Lou Bundy, Shirley McMillan and Jean Hanly sang two beautiful songs, "It's Just Like My Lord" and "The Savior is Waiting to Welcome You In." The evening closed with everyone enjoy- ing a social time together followed by a business meeting conducted by Win Ferris. UCW hold Remembrance service Beth Rutledge opened the Novemblar meeting of Nile UCW with a poem, "The Arms of God." The meeting was held at the home of Cora Sherwood. The worship service . on Remembrance Day was conducted by Myrtle Kerr and in- cluded the hymns "Faith of Our Father" and "Stand up for Jesus" as well as a reading on the effects of war and the mean- ing of Remembrance Day. Psalm 709 was read in unison. Business included placing an order for 25 church calenders and eight shut-ins are to be remembered at Christmas. Bessis McNee volunteered to fill the position of of- ficial board representative. Members are asked to bring` theor mite boxes to the Christmas pot luck dinner, December 11, and the proceeds from these boxes will be donated to the Family and Children's Services. After 11 members and seven visitors had purchased the variety of items at the bazaar and bake sale., hostesses Cora Sherwood and Phyllis Scott served a delicious dessert lunch. Donna Young read the devotional which spoke of the joyous activity at the birth of Jesus Christ. The film "Chino the Cat" was enjoyed by all. It entailed the story of a lady who loved her cat. The draw for the UCW quilt was made by Mrs. Ann Millar with the lucky winner being Mr. George Errington. Women learn about Indians dians 'at the time of the settlers. They used animal sinew, tree bark and animal hide for cookware. He said that East.Coast Indians mage wigwams and lived in these year round whereas the West Coast Indians used large trees to make longhouses which ac- comodated up to 20 families. They hunted whale, muskrat and other sea animals. He stressed that the white man has destroyed the Indian man's pride. His artifacts were interesting to view and he spoke about some of these primitive tools. Lucille Henderson thanked him for his interesting talk. A. Chinese section will be held at the Christmas meeting on December 15. Joyce Thorne's group was in charge of the Arthur Circle Auxiliary meeting which was held November 17 , in the Knox Church parlour. Betty Coulter led the group singing favorite choruses concluding with "Carry Away a Song." Joyce used a prayer by Peter Marshall and Sandi Davidson led the group in respon- sive reading, paraphased on Psalm 104. Psalm 8 was read collectively followed by a prayer by I,ee McCallum.
