After all...
she's my
sister.
There were times when I thought
she'd never make it through adolescence.
If I could have come up with a fool •
proof way to get rid of her...1 probably
would have.
Shewas always following me around,
embarrassing me in front of my friends.
'and getting me into trouble.
But now 'that our lives have followed
their separate paths...it seems .
we just can't see enough°of each
other.
She's the best friend, listener and
.companion I ever had...
• After all, she's my sister.
This year I'm going to show her how
much she means to me with a
personal gift from Looking Good
Fashions.

Black is balck and white is white, unless,
of course, we might consider off -black or
off-white. Then there are the grey shades -
light, medium and dark. This would lead us
to continue that there are then various
"shades" of black and white. Interesting
thought!
I am not a colors expert and do not really
fully comprehend the various shades of col-
ors that we have in our world. I do know,
however, that even the same color may be
classified in a rather wide scope by any
number of individuals.
This leads me to think about something
else (besides colors) that is viewed in ever-
increasing "shades" - that is SIN! People
classify sins in a way that is reminiscent of a
newspaper classifying the want -ads. There
are sins of a moralistic nature, sins of omis-
sion, sins of great magnitude, sins of very
little significance. Then there are sins
which really shouldn't be called sins at all -
little white lies, small discrepancies on ex-
pense accounts, receiving tun iuuCh t i!diig
from a store clerk and thinking it is their
problem now, not yours. These are matters
which really don't amount to much -
MINISTER'S STUDY
RIGHT?
WRONG!
My Bible tells me that: '`... all have sinn-
ed and come short of the glory of God."
( Romans 3:23) I have also come to unders-
tand sin as being anything that keeps an in-
dividual from being all that God has planned
for them to be.
From the Bible we learn that God has
planned for EVERYONE to have fellowship
with him and to be forgiven of sins through
Jesus Christ.
God has planned for His people to be
above reproach, totally honest and
trustworthy, kind, loving, forgiving,
generous, peaceful, joyful, meek, self-
controlled, patient, gentle, one with Him.
What stops us from all of this? SIN. In
any category we might pace it we must
honestly acknowledge that SIN IS SIN! Also
that it stops us fi•uiiib tug all that Cod has
planned from the start for us to be.
What do we do about sin?
This is a perfect time to find out -

Christmas. As Christmas fast approaches,
let us look to what it should mean to us.
Christmas is not simply a Season of
niceties, nor is it simply the commemora-
tion of the birth of a baby some 2,000 years
ago. Christmas is the celebration of the
birth of a Saviour - Jesus Christ, our Lord.
A baby who grew to be a man and who let
Himself be given as a sacrifice for the sins
of all people.
Yes, sin is sin, but it need not enslave us.
In 1 John1:9, we find this promise: "If we
confess our sins he is just, and may be
trusted to forgive our sins and cleanse us
from every kind of wrong; ... should anyone
commit -a sin we have one to plead our
cause, (it is( Jesus Christ, and he is justjle
is Himself the remedy for the defilement of
our sins, not our sins only but the sins of all
the world." ( NEB )
Sin is sin but, praise God for that first
Christmas announcement so many years
ago: "U. ito you is born this day in the city of
David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."
(Luke 2:11)
This Chrigtrnmc m;,i/P dare von celebrate
the birth of our Saviour.%ln your life may
His salvation, the purpose for which He
came, be true.
`Peace and Remembrance' WMS theme
The Ashfield Women's Missionary Socie-
ty met at the home of Mrs. Warren Wylds
on Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Ewen McLean was the leader for
the Meeting on "Peace and Remembrance
Day". She opened with the call to worship
and a poem on Remembrance Day.
The devotions were given by Mrs.
McLean reading several passages of scrip-
ture with the word "Peace". The medita-
tion was taken from Rev. Kenneth Mac-
Millan's book, Against the Tide. People
are meant to live in haritiony with God and
to do His will, but God's will is not being
done and this is why there is war and strife
within ourselves, between 'ourselves and
among nations.
Mrs. Donald Simpson gave the bible
study on "Lydia". Mrs. McLean read an
article written by a 12 -year-old oh peace
and also a poem written by an 11 -year-old
boy who won a Le.gion Award for his
Remembrance Day poem.
The "Glad Tidings" review was given by
Mrs. Henry MacKenzie. Rollcall was
answered by 11 ladies by giving "one step I
can take toward world peace."
Mrs. Charles Wilkins presided for the
business. The minutes were read and ap-
proved. The treasurer's report was given
by Mrs. Warren Wylds. Mrs. Lloyd Collins
gave the Ladies Aid Report. Mrs. Allan
MacDonald asked the ladies_to convene the
lunch for the Sunday School koncert on
Sunday, December 7 at the church.
The meeting closed with a unison prayer
from "Living Faith" on world peace.
Grace was sung and a social time was en-
joyed by the members.
