The proposal for the Beginners Class had been put forward by Margaret Medve, prin- cipal of Precious Blood School, where she hoped to have such a class begin in January 1987, and it was defeated in a vote of three - for and seven -opposed. However, at the most recent board meeting the trustees voted to have the Beginners Class referred to the Board Ac- commodation Review Committee for fur- ther study.' In other business, the board will send delegates to the Seaforth Town Council relative to their consideration to the closure of part of Gouinlock Street. While mom was off looking at baked goods during the Goderich Kinette's annual Christmas Bazaar, sisters Kristine and Candice Mclvor stopped to admire these Christmas wreaths. The bazaar was held Saturday at the Kinsmen Centre and featured Christmas crafts, or- naments, baked goods, tea tables and knitted items. Proceeds from the bazaar go to local community services. The Administrative Committee will meet on Dec. 11, at 8:30 a.m. in the council 'chambers. Huron County Library Board will meet at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 8 in the Court House council chambers, Goderich. 1 CIVIC CORNER The Inaugural Session for Huron County Council will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9 in the Court House council chambers, Goderich. The session will con- tinue at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10. —1 The board accepted the resignation of Mary Baker, a teacher for 20 years, present- ly . at St. Joseph's School, Clinton. The resignation will be effective at the end of December, 1986. At the meeting the suggestion was brought. up that the "Separate" in the board's name, should be dropped. William Eckert, Director of Education for the board, said the name is a corporate name and the board can't change it as it must be used on all legal documents. Following a discussion Eckert, said he would investigate the possibility of dropping the "Separate" if it cn can be i2gaL'y ' Attu -• The board agreed to again donate $100 to TV Ontario as a ng member'. The students benefit fromthet offered by the station, which are used by 85 per cent of the students of Ontario's English language elementary schools and 90 per cent of the secondary schools, 50 per cent of the community college instructors and 23 per cent of the university instructors. The board approves the appointment of a teacher to the Secondary School Steering Committed in Huron County. Gaetan Blanchette, Superintendent of Education outlined to the trustees the Junior Review "A Board Perspective", which will, be forwarded to the Ministry's Regional of; fice in London for consideration. The next meeting of the board will be the inaugural meeting, which will be held on December •1. The second meeting for December will be held on December 8. The meet, organized by Bob Marshall, Program Coordinator for the Recreation Department attracted approximately 75 children from the following schools: Vic- toria School, Goderich; J.A.D. MacCurdy School, Huron Park; Wingham Public School and Atwood Public School. Locally, the children from Victoria School did very well. First prize winners in various categories were: Shelley Lamont, Crystal MacPhee, Jeff Kerr, Karen Woodall, Ken- dra Carter, Christie Anderson, Ricky Glenn, Alfred Tebow, Brian Cudmore, Callum Robinson and John Reid. Second prize win- ners were: Kendra Carter, Randy Cook, Tracey Forrest, Brian Cudmore, Alfred Tebow, Richard Arbour, Judy Freeman and Teddy Doey. Third prize winners were: Bridget Wolterbeek, Annette Tolsma, Callum Robinson and Tina Hessels. Congratulations to all the participants who were involved in the Swim Meet.
