The G.D.C.I. Junior Vikings opened
their 1986 Huron Perth Conference fVictory all
schedule with a convincing
over the Listowel Lords Thursday in
Listowel.
The Vikings dominated the first half,
scoring three touchdowns. Sean Wilson
scored on the opening drive of the game on
a 14 yard trap play. On their second
possession, the Vikings scored again when
Jeff Boyce spun off -tackle and ran 36 yards
for a touchdown. Boyce also kicked the ex-
tra point following his major.
The Vikings other first-half score came
late in the second quarter when Rob
Mathers, the Vikings version of the
refrigerator, finished off a long drive by
bulling his way across the goal -line from
five yards out. .
The Vikings other touchdown was set up
by Andre Cauchi, in the third quarter when
he threw the Lords' punter for a big loss on
a third down deep in the Listowel end. A
few plays later, Mathers went over from
the two to score. Jeff Boyce kickeetI the con-
vert to make the final score 26-0.
The Viking offence had 21 first downs
and gained 359 yards. Jeff Boyce rushed
for 107 yards, Sean Wilson gained 68 yards
and Pheng Troeung picked up 61 yards.
Quarterback Greg Alcock was one for four
in the passing department and carried the
ball 53 yards himself, even though he was
playing hurt. Backup quarterback Brian
Lane ran for 42 yards on four carries in the
fourth quarter.
The Viking defence gave up a total of
just nine first downs after limiting the
Lords to two first downs in the first half.
Sean Wilson was in on a big share of the
tackles and alcn recovered a fumble.
Jason Million had a strong game at his
defensive end position. In addition to these
strong efforts, the Vikings got good work
from rookies Bryan Corriveau, a defensive
halfback, Andy Brewster, a safety, and
Mark Harman and Mike Alcock, defensive
tackles.
The Vikings took five penalties for a
total of 50 years, but the penalties were not
as costly as a couple of the gains they
wiped out. Pheng Troeung had runs of 52
and 65 yards called back because of
penalties.
The Vikings'' meet the Norwell Redmen
here Thursday at 1:30 pm in their first
home game of the season. N( :,est

Orioles 2-1. The Orioles took the lead in the
second inning when Brian Rumig singled.

behind in the first., game and did it again
after Harold Peet singled after Terry
Austin and Dan Durst walked. With two

the Pitching that stood out as Plunkett
allowed four hits while striking out twelve

finals. Last Friday French advanced to de-
fend their championship with a 4-1 victory
over ,Kirkey's.
