EGENER Maitland Country Club held it's Cham- pionship Day on Saturday, September 20. Under lowering skies, 44 men and 19 ladies took to the course, and except for our feet on' 8th and 9th holes managed to keep dry. On the trophy awards . Della Bedard won out over Ardith Brissette for the Mooney Trophy, emblematic of the club champion- ship, and Della also won the Maitland Trophy with Chris Hoffmeyer runner-up. The Rose Bowl, ladies handicap trophy, was won by Verna Kane with Jean Knight taking runner-up spot. Ladies Scotch 2 -ball trophy was taken by Maxine Martin and Kay Duncan, winning out over Verna Kane and Jean Hanly. The Mrs. Geo. Bruce Trophy is presented to the lady who has lowered her handicap the most over the. year, and Mary Lapaine was the victorious one by three notches lower. For the day's play the 1st low gross win- ners in three flights were Maxine Martin, Edna Looker and Jean Hanly. First low net winners were Marie Huff, Rosemarie Evans and Jean Knight. Marie Huff, Edna Looker and Jean Knight were the best putters, while Rosemarie Evans was closest to the pin on No. 1, and Maxine Martin hit out the longest drive on No. 7. In the nine hole category Irla Stewart, Bess .Smith and Audrey Rumble took the prizes. In the men's category, the Club Champion was the winner of A flight, Q. Egener, with Don Thompson runner-up. B and C flight champs were Jack Hinton and Clive Caswell, with runners-up Ralph Neville and. John Stringer. Papernick Trophy was taken by Bob McDougall over Jack Gould. The men's two -ball champions were Bill Brown and Don Thompson, followed by, Jack Hin- ton and Bob McDougall, Vince Young and George Zolob, attd'•Q '?gener and Bill Dun- can. The Ron Menzies Trophy for Seniors nine hole play, was won by Don Stewart. Other flight winner was Clive Casewell. Seniors 18 hole chapionship was won by Bill Haply with Don Mason in runner-up spot. The John Kane trophy for the most improv- ed golfer was taken by Doug Hesk. A good day of golt was tollowed by a ter- rific dinner, served by Chef Ben and his staff. A program followed wherein greetings from the board., were brought by Bill Par- tridge, and speeches were kept to a minimum. The proposed Official Plan Amendment, and Zoning Amendment affect the lands on the east side of Victoria Street between Brock and Newgate Streets, as shown on the map below. The Official Plan amendment would change the designation of the property to Core Area Commerciat from Highway Commerdial. The corresponding zoning amendment would change the zoning of the property to a special Core Area Commercial (C4-4) zone from Highway Commercial. The C4-4 zone wduld establish the zone provisions by a site plan; These amendments would permit the property to be used for core commercial purposes, subject to the site plan. ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representa- tion either in support of or in oppositioh to the proposed official plan amendment and zoning change.
